Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

I am assuming you are tlaking about this one. I actually kitbashed it. This is a good idea for making specific shed sizes of may shapes and varietys. Notice this one is not a perfect square but has exstensions and spurs.

To answer your question I used JJS Retaining Wall for the walls and JJS Retainign Wall Portal for the openings for the track. I then used conc slab 100m (any size will do i.e. 25m 50m, etc.) and I raised it (its a spline) so that it comes flush with the roof.

If you need clarification or if this isn't what you are tlaking about please ask.

Thanks

Davis

Yeah thanks, that's what I was looking for. I can see now that you mention it how it does look like the retaining walls. Funny how I didn't see the resembleance earlier. Anyways, it's too bad there weren't more building like this already made up ready to download. How long did it take you to build that if you don't mind me asking? Depending on how long it takes I might start one myself.

Thanks,
Stephen

Probably a 1/2 hr tops. It really isnt hard. I did one for the Metro shops in DC and I did one for New Carrollton that I never got a round to posting pictures of.

Also thats the response I was hoping for, I dont want it to stick out s cool.

Just a tidbit of adivice I lay down the tracks first and then build up the walls and roof later.

BTW more pics in a sec.....

Pictures Continued.....

Just more from that recent string of pics.

Here's two shots from the empty CSX coal maifest:

CSX Recently completed this interlcoking where the famous Potomac Yards used to be. Before a couple of months ago it just used to be that switch to the left, now they have a new 3 track interlocking with all concrete ties. Im trying to update this route as often as the prototype is. When I first started a year ago this wasn't here:

A short CSX MoW cut moves back up north to rest in CSX's Anacostia Yards after some inspection of the South Alexandria Junction Area (CSX/NS)

It looks like he has to wait up a bit....

We've moved down to the Alexandria, VA VRE/Amtrak stop to find the CSX Tropicana Juice Train crawling north towards Kearny, NJ. Its not uncommon to see up to 2 freights just sitting in this station waiting for the clearence in the junction just south:

Here we see the two lead units:

Only a fraction of the Northbound platform is used anymore, here you can see the unused protion fading away. However, to the right ou can see the redundantly lengthed southbound platform which has suprisingly upheld its length.

The units again:

Thats all for now. I have some more pis but Ill leave those to te USA Pics thread since they don't really go along with this series of shots.

Stay tuned and check those out if you want.

Thanks

Davis

I saw the juice train going through Alexandria last thursday - was coming out of the Metro at the time so no time for a pic unfortunately - saw it returning again Saturday from a distance while at DCA.

It's been a while since I posted on your thread Davis, but I routinely visit it to see the progress. I must say you're doing a terrific job. Keep up the great work!

By all means work on Ashland, VA. It's your route and do as you please and what satisfies your needs to work on at the moment.

Actually was just in DC on family business, I grew up in Silver Spring but live in the UK now.

Heres a reskin which I actually got permission to release a while back but somehow keep forgetting to, might be of use to you... (The roofs have since been painted blue as with the prototype)

Important:

Hello all,

For my route south of Richmond I need some fallen flag relics (so to speak).

As some of you may know the tracks from Alexandria, VA to Acca, VA which is just north of downtown were origionally owned and operated by the Richmond Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad (RF&P). From there onto Newport News, VA the Chesepeake & Ohio Railroad (C&O) owned and operated the tracks. So there's a history lesson for all of you.

Now all of the tracks are owned and operated by the CSXT Company. The trackage from Alexandria to Acca is significantly more important and busy than the southeastern leg to Newport News. This leg has all new signal gantries and safetran "darth vader" hooded signals. That was easy. I utilized all of jointedrail.com 's freeware items for that.

Now I have begun adding detail to the southeastern section. Note that it is still run by CSX but has been significantly downgraded. Its second track has been removed in most places. Also, because of its lower traffic amounts it has retained its heritage C&O signal equipment.

So my request or question is:

Where can I find some C&O standard gantries, C&O cantilever gantries, and some C&O signals both gantry and on a pole versions? A stand in would work too.

Here are some pics for help:

Thanks in advance for any help!

Progress going well?

Its going okay... just really slow.:( I was bored so I spent the last 10 days placing every single signal on the route as far south as Acca, Ill do the rest when I can get some C&O signals:o .

I think Im gonna work on DC some more. Scenery just is very hard and takes alot of thought.
