Northeast Corridor Newport News, VA to Boston-South Station, MA (1024x 768 pixels)

Cool shots. But be safe out there. Amtrak has created a new policy that says your not allowed to take photos of any kind from their station platforms. It was written up recently both in Trains and Railpace.
Rusty

Really.. because whenever I'm at New Haven station, I always take videos.. and there are usually many Amtrak officials on the platform; they never stop me..

What's with the crooked catenary pole? You'd think Amtrak would take better care of those things, I mean they are pretty old, and there's another one like it up at Halethorpe.

Still at BWI:

Well I was sitting down when I heard a horn. I jumped up too late and at least caught this shot of a Northbound Silver Service. NOTE: How all LD Trains have had there consists flipped so Coaches are up front and sleepers are in the middle:

This must be 98, the Silver Meteor with Georgia 300 in the tail.

@wridenour:

Thats probably due to the reballasting of this area. The foundations were old and were distrubed in reballasting and the tension of the wires most likely pulled it. These towers will be replaced soon. This may not be the other ur talking about but it is near Halethrope.

@brickbuilder711:

Ur probably right on the train #. It was flying through and I was too slow to react in time with the camera. I heard the horn and I wandered over and then zoom!

However, that car is not Georgia 300. It looks alot like it but the paint jobs on the side (which I couldnt get a pic of) were different and I think its back down in Florida right now.

That car (300) was my grandpa's when he worked for the Georgia RR (you may have heard that rr, if not I can link you). My grandma even remebers riding it to a golf tournament. He didnt have it long though. He moved to the L&N soon after and got another car which is at the Kentucky RR Mueseum (#363).

Also if you guys want to know why Obama chose it, its because it is armor plated and the windows are bullet proofed so there wasn't any modification needed for him to be secure in it. Why it was equipped like this I do not know. Im gonna find out if it was always like this even when my grandpa had it!

Now why can't more cars be made like that?!:p

So my dad and I decided that we wanted to find the exact spot where the Cmaden Line crossed the NEC. To do this we had to tresspass big time. The two nearest stations to the spot would be Halthrope to the North of it on the NEC and St. Denis to the East of it on the Camden Line. So we settled with St. Denis and started walking down the mainline for a bout a 1/2 mile til we hit the spot. The funny thing is that here the Cmaden is 4 tracks and the more important NEC is only 3 tracks. Enjoy:

Here my dad is standing on the Camden above the Penn in his Penn Central Green T-Shirt:

Here's me in my Acela T-Shirt in the exact same spot:

Here's a stake thing to mark a pipe under the ballast. You can see it pop out as it goes over the bridge:

Lookin' down the NEC towards Halethrope:

Me again squinting at the sun and getting more burned by the second:

Notice to the right of the 3 NEC tracks there is a gap. Amtrak foolishly ripped out the 4th track and now its going to take forever to get the money to put it back in:

I dont know how this got in the mix but this is back in that Elkton town. Sorry bout that:

Anyways, now we're looking across the 4 tracks South to BWI:

Again but more zoomed in. You can see the little speed limit signs' backs hanging in the catenary:

Looking down the line there are two (hopefully) parked CSX diesils:

Okay, I'll take another look at the project when I get home.. all is going well, I just need to dig around for a few minor files..

Which Trainz do you have?

ATTENTION!

Attention All!

I have a very important announcement to make:

I will be doing Metro's entire Red Line.
Some reasons for this:

1. First line built by WMATA!
2. I have already built the most complex part, the Union Station area.
3. I will have to build a large part of the Brunswick line with it.
4. I am very interested in this line and WMATA.
5. Im very close by so photos will not be an obstacle.

I will be building off my current NEC route. So upon release you will get this complete route and a taste of my NEC progress!

I wont be able to start for a couple of weeks, so Ill have some planning time and some input from all of you interested guys!

Thanks in adavance for your continued support!
