Here's a video I made a while ago, I know it's not a Trainz Review but it still features K&L Trainz content, I feel like these two have been neglected for a while now. ;)

Trainman, that shot looks fabulous. Looks just like a Virginia town today or in 1950 with 611 romping through.

Daaaamn trainman, your pc must be either a million dollars, or on fire...

It's not hard to get shadows like that, under the Environment you can adjust the sun and light intensity. It makes for some really dramatic screenshots from the right angle, but on the flip side can wash out colors and the opposite side is more or less pure black.

EDIT: Here is an example:

yeah, but wouldn't you have to run the shadows on the 4096 setting on high, then put the in game setting on high as well? takes a beefy gpu for that kind of graphics and half decent fps...

Not really. You can have low settings and do it. My game is pretty much maxxed out at 60fps though.

Here is a pic of my current set up:

I have an AMD FX-8320 clocked at 4.0 Ghz, GTX 1060 6gb, 16gb of DDR3 RAM. The only settings not maxed out are shadow resolution and anti-aliasing, as the difference in game is not noticeable enough compared to the performance impact.

You don't have to have Shadows set at 4096 to change the way light influences or have the quality at high, this will only improve the resolution or range at which shadows are rendered. This is all done in surveyor using ambient and sun color options, circled in red with my amazing paint skills:

Hope this helps you create awesome heavy shadow screenshots as well; They seem to be quite popular recently.
