"Jerome & Big Thunder Mountain": a desert ore hauler 1920x1080

Can't wait for this to be released. I'm more of a urban-fan (ATSF or PRR, just urban) but this is AWESOME

Those NM&W F7s look natural on there. Great shots!

Hmmm, yes, yes they do. In that case...

Some quick re-branding can yield results.

Cheers

what's the name of the track you're using in that last post Roon?
I use several varieties of "TSM" track. It's actually Russian gauge so an inch or two wider than standard, but its not really noticeable. Specifially the mainline track tends to be "TSM Track wood red2 high ballast" by olegkhim, while the rusty track is "TSM Track WWL SK R-50 old 12". They are available on the DLS, but be aware there are a ton of varieties (by several creators). :)

RS1 I could see but SD9's would screw the track up. they're too big and heavy for the track he's got in there ;)
Actually the only thing that would give SD's a problem on the route might be tight curves. The 6 axle trucks actually spread the weight out better, in addition to providing greater slow speed tractive effort. This is why you will often see foreign railroads with lighter rail running small 6 axle locomotives (like Greece and Argentina). But whatever...the J&BTM just buys whatever is cheap! ;)

Tim, my jaw dropped when i saw the reskinned F7's. You realize they are too clean though! ;) They will be right at home pulling the J&BTM's premier passenger trains...if the J&BTM [still] had passenger trains. A J&BTM passenger train is letting the people hop in the cab or caboose or an open boxcar! All the passenger stations on the railroad pretty much just exist for the residents to hang out at and kill time (what else do you do in a small desert town?? :p

This looks like the desert version of PC!
That's sorta what i'm going for. Honestly, i hope a lot of Disney influence comes through. Anyone familiar with the Big Thunder Mountain RR attraction should know for the overall feeling i'm going for; run-down and scraping by, but doing so with a smile and a care-free attitude.

Ok, new pictures below...

New area (so it's not fully detailed yet and subject to me totally changing it :P)

The End of the Line (but i've said that twice before!). An old mine/industry is now just a spot of a seldem used ore loadout ramp.

A Reading camelback in the desert?! Hey, what can i say, i might just be a Reading Railroad fan ;) (having built a significant part of the Reading Railroad in Trainz..."NS Reading Line", "Reading & Northern" etc...)

Pencil42 was kind enough to reskin his turntable. Thanks again Curtis!

The little switcher is nearly maxed out pulling 5 freight cars up the steep grade. Normally relegated to switching duties at the mine or mill, i figured she should get out and stretch her legs. ;)

...and finally shots of the area i was working on today, the passenger station and interchange in Clarkdale.

After having pulled out their train of empty ore cars, a pair of SD9's prepare to run around their train for a trip back to the mine. The tracks to the left are the "mainline" railroad the J&BTM interchanges with (AT&SF/SP/whoever you want it to be), while a joint passenger station sits in the middle.

Down closer to the interchange. I guess the engineer just wanted to chat with the dispatcher (hey, its not like the railroad is in a hurry ;)).

Finally at the other end of their train. The copper smelter is to the left of the engines, the rest of the town of Clarkdale to the right, and the newer yard just in front of the engines.

Chattin' with another local (and i'm still fiddling with the roads/crossings here). The small camelback and her train can be seen getting ready to depart in the background. For anyone interested, this picture is roughly where the real Nevada Northern depot sits. The route is built on the Nevada Northern DEM.

Ok, thats all for now. :)

After all these months the J&BTM finally has a working yard!

The SD9 is a fresh custom re-skin by 817Taylor of Central Valley Trainz (http://cvtrainz.weebly.com/)

On the other side of town, two SD9's crawl in notch 8 as they lug another loaded ore train up the grade, meanwhile its business as usual at the freighthouse; aka stand around and do nothing. ;)

Overview of Clarkdale.

My FPS hovers around 25 in Surveyor with all this stuff in.

glad to see that we aren't running some noobish railroad anymore ;P and J&BTM finally had enough money to repaint their SD9's from other railways :P

Well the president of the J&BTM and the president of the NM&W are friends, so...:) Maybe someday they will buy the PRR and UP and link up and become the first national mega-railroad :P.

Anyway, i spent all of my Trainz time this weekend ripping out something i had already finished and completely rebuiling it. :o

New Clarkdale smelter:

4% upgrade on the left for tracks to unload raw ore, 3% upgrade for the track to unload coal, and 3% downgrade for tracks for loading refined copper.

(woops, the last vestige of the previous iteration of the smelter...those elevated mine cart tracks, still need to be deleted)

The coaling tower in this picture will probably come out, or at least be moved.

Compare with my recent pictures to see the difference.

Looks Epic! you really know how to fit a building into an area, especially a tricky one like that on a hillside :)

Kudos, sir :D

Cheers

SD9 #5301 pokes it's nose out Notamine Tunnel. The railroad really wishes that the locals would stop believing there is gold in there and stop mining the tunnel away. ;)

And the other side...
