Irish stock for trainz?

PFX you live in Ireland can't you do it :D

Hi Sam, it takes a long time to create a loco or carriage. I'm talking months here, not just weeks. Furthermore, I have only just got Blender, which is used to create items, and I haven't anywhere near the knowledge to make a carriage as yet.

Alternatively, it's taken me 20 minutes to do the following. Very rough and not weathered or detailed but it would surely suffice until when or if the real thing is made?

@ nexusdj, fear not, this is not going anywhere other than my PC. You can rest assured that I'll contact you if I take it any further and if you're kind enough to allow me to do that.

Cheers.

It'll to as long as you have the middle carriages done :)

Don't try to sound too grateful. Although it's just a reskin, it would still require many hours of my time to do, time which I'm not sure will be appreciated.

I'll do it if you like, since i'm on them all the time it wont take me very long to finish off for you ;)

Well pfx don't be too downhearted and put off. If I ever get as far south as Dublin I might do the DART branch north of there with limited scenery so a DART can be run!

Ok so I don't think this went down well I.E actually creating Irish Stock from scratch. But how long do you think it would take for me to do it ;D

Reskinning takes a day or two.

I'm building some GWR coaches at the moment fairly detailed and I have a picky beta tester but I started them around 18 months ago. One is finished and on TPR but I'm going back over the shadow at the moment. I have built content in the past so have some expertise, there is a learning curve with this stuff. Newcomers often are a bit high on the poly count so you need to take performance into account as well.

Cheerio John

Well SamFarnon, you might have overlooked what I said in my build of the N. Ireland Railway. I now have 3 of the 6 lines done and presently working on the Londonderry route. I also have said that although my aim is just to do the NIR and that is enough to be getting on with I am considering continuing the line over the Border from Newry to Dublin even with less scenery. However if you are expecting much from the IR area I suspect is your particular interest there is nothing and no hint of anything.

The only thing that is available mainline for across the Irish Sea is one done by Harcourt a time ago called "Along UTA Lines" set in Ulster covering 3 routes north of Belfast away back in steam days. I am doing the present day but not easily as I live in Glasgow. If I did include the Enterprise route to Dublin I would add the northern DART branch. This in turn would give someone that inclined and knows the geography to do something out of the Dublin Station where my route would end. Don't look at me though this is enough for me to cope with and being in Glasgow is not a help!

I did entertain the notion of doing part of the Western Rail Corridor particularly now there is a Video 125 production featuring the re-opened part. I'm also quite fascinated by the now closed branch lines in the west such as Galway to Clifden or Westport to Milltown.

At one point a couple of years ago I started Farranfore to Valencia Harbour but it never progressed beyond the basic track laid on top of the mapping.

It is considerably harder to do a good representation of Irish routes - both closed and those still open - as there's simply not the resources available (gradient profiles or other published information) that can usually be tracked down for UK routes.

It's possible one or more of the above might get looked at again in the future but at the moment I've got several routes on my "like to do" list and juggling between two sims as well.

I forgot about this thread but since it's been brought back to life, you may be interested in a couple of reskins I did some time ago.

In the absence of one of these

You may want to use these, both of which are on the DLS under my username, along with the DARTs you didn't want before.

You know I could help with any Irish projects, since I live in ireland, and living right next to the enterprise route helps a lot too. I saw a download for the DART line on the DLS, but the user who made it must've deleted it.

Anyway, for the rolling stock, heres how it can go:
Reskins: Enterprise = Class 222 coaches
Intercity MK3 = BR Mk4 coaches
Intercity MK2 = BR MK2f coaches

Tweaks: 2800 Commuter = Class 158 with relocated doors
MK3 Push-Pull end wagon = MK4 fitted with cab
Enterprise Push Pull end wagon = Class 222 cabs with tweaked front end

The stock needed to be created from scratch:
81/8300 DART
85/8600 DART
29000 Commuter DMU
Class 201 Loco
Class 071 Loco
Most of the stations/Buildings (Dont worry, I can work on them)

Since I live on the Enterprise line, I can help with the development of these, no mater how long it takes.

As ever, you're gratitude is overwhelming though I look forward to seeing all your IÉ content in coming weeks.

It's not that I'm ungrateful or anything, I'm just saying It'll be nice to see a route from my own country. And also, I dont think it'd be too hard if we just start with the DART line, and leave the rest to me :P

It would indeed, be nice to see an Irish route and perhaps you're the very man to start one if you feel it wouldn't be too hard. Unfortunately I'm a bit busy on a route of my own at present and will be for many months yet.
