How to download mods if my cd key has already been used

I have the ultimate collection of trainz, but my cd key is already in use, how do i download mods if im using an old disc? isnt this a little unfair to those with legacy copies of the game?

I also see that you can no longer buy the ultimate collection from this website, this is a bit of a pickle as id be willing to fork out twice if i could, but i cant do anything with a used disc because my cd key isnt found, real nice effort in preservation i see here.

Log into Trainz with the user name and password the game was originally registered under and everything will work.
Not originally your game? then you're out of luck

This is not an issue to be debated in the forum. The only way to get help is through the Helpdesk link in the menu bar above. Grazlash is correct that CD Keys are bound to the username that they were first registered under. They are not transferable.

I’ve been lucky with buying secondhand copies of Trainz. All the ones I have have never been registered or if it is even possible the previous owner got them “de-registered” before trading them in. I’d suggest if the seller is an individual like on Ebay, etc then try asking them if they ever registered it. If they can confirm it has been unregistered then you’re in luck. I asked somebody who sold me my copy of TRS2006 and they said they had absolutely no clue what I was talking about.

Tip:
You would be better off downloading a new copy of Trainz Simulator 12 from a Steam site.
Register it under a new username.
UTC is way out of use (now redundant software) especially if used on newer computers that have Windows 10 installed.
Trainz Simulator 12 is considered the minimum to use and can get a bargain with this product.
Later then use the same registered username to upgrade to TRS 2022 or something.
