Help: To restore to default "Edit Session" window

Overall, I have no idea what the window is called. But I am assuming that some of us or maybe all of us has made the mistake of widening that one window we cannot revert back to the original default window

WARNING: Doing this will require you to sign into Trainz again and may delete any scrapbook settings of which you may have customised in Surveyor 2.0 (TRS22PE only)
Also keep in mind that the database will rebuild itself, DO NOT attempt to play Trainz during this process

Primary goal is to reset the Window back to this

window-1.jpg

After doing this

window-2.jpg

To fix this, navigate to your Trainz user data folder. Default location for TANE, TRS19 or TRS22 can be found
C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\N3V Games open, either TANE, TRS19 or TRS22

Open the Build xxxxxxxx folder (Note: xxxxxxxx is random letters and numbers)

Delete the following files

asset-cache.tdx
assets.tdx

Open Cache folder and delete the file

assets.bku

Now the will be normal again when you go back into Surveyor Classic or 2.0 (TRS22PE only).
Trainz will automatically rebuild the database, please be patient and do not attempt to play the game until the database has been completed
Don't forget to sign back into Trainz via Trainz Launcher | Trainz Settings and under "My Trainz" tab

Hopefully you find this useful!

Also this bug has been fixed in the latest beta version of Trainz Plus and the fix will/should be included in the next quarterly release for Trainz Plus and SP update for TRS22. So if the above solution is too "technical" or "risky" for you then have patience.

Thanks for the information mate (y)

In the meantime, if you wish to increase the size of these screen boxes just use the mouse to pull out the sides or top/bottom edges. The new sizes will be retained until you alter them again.

Thank you for this. I've seen some people struggle with this thing but never could find a solution myself.

Also, even if there will a fixing patch to TRS22, I assume this problem will still be in TANE and TRS19, so for some of those players this post could be really useful. Thanks again.

Actually, the issue wasn't until the last release of TRS22 update when something was "fixed" in the process of making something else better.

No worries at all :) I am pleased to know it's helpful :D

Just so everyone knows. Deleting those files doesn't just fix the window it deletes every picklist, the entire game is defaulted to it's original state, all hotkeys are defaulted, the camera is defaulted, and everything is basically a new install. Routes and Sessions all seem to work (including the one I have been building), but my experience now is DO NOT do this brute force fix under any circumstance. Luckily I didn't delete the original files, I only renamed them with a .old extension and now have to restore it to the broken version.

It's great to know that N3V has only been pushing these fixes to their exclusive rental users (yes a subscription is renting the game), and the rest of us are left in the lurch. TRS22 PE is probably going to be the only one I ever get at this point. That sticks because I love the game (over 1100 hours invested since buying it September 22, 2024. Yes I play it that much.), but I can't stand that the exclusive club gets fixes over the rest of us that paid money for the game as well. Not a good look for the company, but what do I know. I'm just some old dude.

Those fixes are currently in the beta version only and beta versions are not for the faint-hearted. I have the beta version of Trainz Plus as well as the normal subscription version. I use the normal version, with its bugs (including this one), for all my development work and the beta version for testing my work to find new bugs.

When the last Trainz Plus beta version went "retail" both TRS22 versions were also updated to include the bug fixes. The same will happen when the current Trainz Plus beta also goes "retail".

Those Trainz Plus users who do not have the beta version are in the same situation as those who have TRS22 - they are not in the "exclusive club" of beta testers who "get fixes over the rest of us that paid money for the game as well". As well as the "fixes" the exclusive club of beta testers have to endure assertion messages, a lower level of performance and other "features".

N3V have just announced the release of an update for Trainz Plus and TRS22 (I presume both versions). I am still downloading the Trainz Plus update (12.9GB) and then I will do the same for the TRS22PE update so I cannot check if this particular bug has been fixed but it was fixed in the current Trainz Plus beta.

The announcement thread is at https://forums.auran.com/threads/trainz-update-announcement-sp5.179952/ and included the following at the end.
