HD ground textures messed up when copying/pasting

springtransit

What are you looking at?
When I copy and paste stuff when using HD terrain, the ground textures get all messed up! Here are a few before/after pictures that show what I mean...

Another instance...

And when pasting on an empty baseboard...

Copy and Paste means that you are using the Scrapbook. What are your Scrapbook Filter settings?

It should only apply to the selected area...
That does not answer my question. But it does indicate the possible solution to your problem.

The paste occurs at the current compass position, not inside any area that you have drawn out with the marquee tool. If the compass happens to be inside the marquee area then it will be pasted there but the size, shape and orientation of the pasted area will be very unlikely to match the area you have drawn.

What I am concerned with is the textures outside of the pasted area, which should not be changed...

That is how textures in Trainz have always worked. They do not have a sharp edge and, as a result, you can blend two adjacent textures into each other.

The solution in your case is to "retouch" the textures at the paste boundary to make the transition between the two in a way that suits you.

With HD you may have exceeded the maximum number of textures for that board. So some textures will change to keep it within the limit.

They will have to address that in the next update...
It is a hardware issue, not a software issue. Other games/sims that use HD or its equivalent have a similar or even harsher texture limit. Unreal Engine, for example, limits you to 8 textures in its HD equivalent of a Trainz baseboard. Compare that with the Trainz limit of 16..

So, until we all get major hardware upgrades (to 128bit CPUs running at light speed, GPUs with Terabytes of storage and running even faster) then we will be stuck with this limitation.
