Hello Everyone,

We have a new build with several imposter improvements included as well as some HD terrain terraforming improvements. There has been a fix to speed limits for long trains that have entered multiple speed zones to correctly apply the lowest zone speed. As such, please be on the look out for any incorrect speed limits shown on the HUD during testing.

Please review both old and new foliage assets and report any that may render incorrectly.

Do NOT place these assets on the DLS. These are for testing purposes only, and the same as the previous Trainz Plus Beta build. We suggest replacing some existing trees with the new Plant Factory foliage assets in a copy of an existing route, then compare both the performance and visuals between the old and new assets.

Plant Factory Trees test assets (NOT for DLS)

A reminder again, please be on the look out for the following:
  • Imposters that look completely wrong (both old assets and new Plant Factory assets)
  • Foliage assets appearing as imposters in close proximity to the camera
  • Any major performance impacts - Please wait until the first run and Compiling Shaders process completes before reporting. This will cause significant performance reduction while the shaders are built and is to be expected. Some performance impact is to be expected with the new imposter system, while things are still being refined.
    • A known issue currently is camera rotation can lead to a drop in frame rate in routes with many trees
  • Any crashes or freezes
  • Any issues with the new Plant Factory assets
  • Any issues with incorrect speed limit changes
  • Any missed issues with double stack rolling stock

Known Issues:
  • This build lacks precache shaders. Stuttering and small freezes during first loads of routes is to be expected as well as longer initial load times. 'Compiling Shaders' can be seen top of the screen during initial runs and slow performance is to be expected during this process.
  • Assertion Errors are enabled for this build. Trainz will pause until Assertion Errors are closed. Users can select Continue and Ignore Errors. (Reporting when these occur with bugs will help with troubleshooting)
  • MPS is not supported for this build
  • Some Plant Factory tree leaves can sometimes appear at odd angles when rendered as an imposter
  • Performance impact when rotating camera in routes with many speedtrees
  • Trees may have a slight delay rendering when rotating the camera
  • Imposters may not render on first run immediately after update. Work around is to exit and reload the route or session.

Hi there Fellas,

Have noticed that there are no more light shader on at the ground textures. Trainz Plus 129876 had it all working. Only the rails are highlighted now. There are some weird flashes and highlights from behind of the consist, while there is no another loco.

That may be the explanation. Beta versions often come with some features disabled or severely crippled sacrificing performance to improve bug detection.
 
Installed with now issues. Initial test on my large HD route has pin pointed any issues yet. Performance has improved over the previous beta version.

Lot more tests to do.

Beta versions typically have precache shaders disabled and the announcement post mentions "This build lacks precache shaders. Stuttering and small freezes during first loads of routes is to be expected as well as longer initial load times. 'Compiling Shaders' can be seen top of the screen during initial runs and slow performance is to be expected during this process."

The suggested remedy: after the route has loaded (with "not snow!"), exit Trainz, restart and reload the route. See if that makes a difference.
