GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

G'day Dinorius_Redundicus, Vinnybarb, dericm, mikey186 & teddytoot,

@ teddytoot & dericm,

...you are, indeed, correct, John! Those are the (supposedly) black and white Friesian (sic) cows originally released by Deane [Dinorius_Redundicus] and the ones in the image posted by you, Dan, are the "reskins" of those same cows released by Rail4Pete, as Ayrshire cows, which, as you can see from this image...

Milking_Shed71.jpg

...I have now added to my collection...

@ Dinorius_Redundicus,

...believe me, Deane, I've "milked it dry", already...

@ Vinnybarb,

...my reference to "Alpha Channels" was in relation to the suggestion made earlier by rumour3 to utilise the "*.m.tbumpenv" type material and Auran's own recommendations, to therewith use "Alpha Channels" to control the Specular and reflection levels. I do not believe that rotating the UVW Mapping on the tanks (in order to 'adjust' the angle of the Specular), would be a desirable option, as, even if the tanks were constructed from separate horizontal sections (with or without ribbing), the circular nature of their 'shape' would demand that the reflection (even on each individual 'sheet') would still run vertically up and down the height of the tank. These are tanks constructed of welded, polished Aluminium/Aluminum sheets, intended to appear as a 'one piece construct' and this is the 'effect' I am trying to reproduce, here...

@ mikey186,

...you have to keep in mind that these STILL images do NOT do the 'effect' justice. Believe me, when you eventually add this asset to your collection and rotate your view around it 'in game', the 'effect' is outstanding and (given the minor adjustments I have made to the texture this morning - it turns out I had not followed my own instructions and failed to utilise the full area of the diffuse texture with the UVW Mapping of the tank sides) as near to perfect as I am prepared to go. I will now upload this asset for approval from the good folks at N3V...

P.s.,

...which kind of milk would you like?...

Hello,
This is the 1st model I have ever created in blender. I did a small tutorial on how to make a car and got bored so started making this wagon. Its based of the
'Port Douglas Tramway' general open wagon used for transporting bagged to the jetty at Port Douglas. Does someone want to help me finish this model? I am struggling to find how to the the texturing and assistance animating the wheel set to rotate would be great also, if its a 4 wheeled wagon should a make the bogies one bogie?

Thanks,

Hello guys ! )

Nice creations you are doing all.

Since some months, I've worked on an electric locomotive, the CC-6500 series, of the French railways.
the service of that machine started between 60ies and 70ies and it towed some prestigious french trains of that time, like the Mistral, the Capitole, at 200 km/h. That machine was even used to tow heavy goods trains, due to its powerful motorisation (5900 kW, app. 8000 HP). The design of that machine was drawn by Paul Arzens, a french designer.

These machines used an old traction system, with shunt and rheostats system. To use these machines, drivers had to know them perfectly to prevent problems of catenary breaking and things like that. Like some old drivers said, it was a good material for learning.

In 2007, due to the lost of the "freight monopoly" by the french railways, these machines were scrapped, except 3 or 4 that were conserved by associations, who sometimes, make a ride with it.

As you can see, I've assembled all the parts, (bogeys, and pantographs)
to see the result. For the moment, I haven't finished, with school and all that, I'm occupied ))

I work on two 3d programmes : sketch up, for the modelling, and 3ds Max for texturing, helpers placement and animation and exporting on the game.

Hope you'll like it )

Hi

I have to say I really like these wonderful models. Very nice job you've done!)

Cheers

Decided to tackle a model I wanted when I began Content Creating for Trainz.

Using the Sketchup Mesh as a template, I rebuilt the mesh from scratch, and this model is more accurate in shape to the Trolley seen in Mister Roger's.

Hello,

Interesting prototype; I may able to assist with the animation of the bogies; since it is a simple wagon; you can make it a single bogie asset with animation on both wheels. Send myself a PM, and we shall follow from there.

There is no need to double post, and I would advise against asking questions like that, people might call you a gimme-pig (which is someone who constantly asks for stuff, like: OMG u shud give me dat paywar locometoive 4 free cuz I download ur freewor a alot and if not some1 NEEDS to mak it 4 me cuz i rally want it and itz awesoome.)

That is a good impression of a gimme pig, mate.

Anyway, no, the climax is not on the DLS. It is on Trainz Forge.
