GMax and 3DSMax (And any other modeling program) screenies/renders

yup, yup. I still have a lot to learn while making them, but I plan to release them at some point. I have gotten a lot of help from folks as of late, so it may be sooner than later. I may do alpha/beta releases at different stages of completion just to stir the pot though.

cheers
Good to hear. I have a railroad that is uses those cars in real life, but in trainz the road uses clerestory cars.

Deadpool said I could use the JR Freeware Dash 9 bogies from the JR site if I wanted to.

Bogies don't matter that much to me. As long as they look good and have the proper number of axles I'm good.

Cheers,

Dave

(Assuming that is BG of course; either was it is a good deal)

Yeah, it's Broad Gauge, they where designed to work Steel between NSW/Vic and exchange bogies at Albury, however this never happened, instead they would unload the NSW stock and re-load to Vic stock at Albury then run them to Long Island in Mornington.

Start of another unique modern wagon, I salvaged parts from the ESX for this one, only 9 of these and they are dedicated Broad Gauge stock, number 4 was K.T. traffic only Westall - Bairnsdale

all those boxes are for boolean cutting if anyone asks, pink ones are part of the container brackets base, purple are measuring boxes.

Cheers.

Looks great Dave! Also, must say I love the texture work on the fuel tank.

LOL! LOL! Although I don't normally use photo textures on my models (I usually create everything in Photoshop or Illustrator) I couldn't get the fuel tanks to look quite right.... and I had a really good picture of the fuel tanks... so I used the photograph and did my 3-D extrudes in G-max. It did come out looking good, if I do say so myself. And I do.

Sorry I cheated. (no I ain't).

Cheers!

Dave

G'day davesnow,

...you wrote...

..."...Sorry I cheated. (no I ain't)..."...

...to which I must respond...

...since when has using photo-realistic textures been "cheating," Dave? As far as I am concerned, in order to obtain a realistic appearance in our models, it is the only 'solution'...

Hey Dave, it is not cheating (I know you did not mean it) to use photo textures, sometimes it is the only way to get what one wants/needs. From some of my created locomotives and created bogies, where I used photo textures. I was lucky I took my own pictures as I knew what I wanted:

Just click the thumbnails to get the bigger picture.

some more:

Check the welding on that air tank on bottom right, it came out very well with the normal map. As one can see, photo texturing is OK if done correctly and one can produce one's own normal maps from these photos. I do so all the time.

If you are looking for some bogies, check these by me created Dash 9 bogies (on the bottom picture in the middle) which were imported into Australia and modified here for these huge coal train locomotives in Queensland and New South Wales in Australia. They are on the DLS.

Cheers
