faulty DLC items in TRS2022, in 2019 fine

Hello,
After a break of over 15 years, I bought the current TRS 2022 Platinum version with some DLC. Unfortunately, I'm getting errors in almost all DLCs due to outdated kuids under 3.5 or texture issues. So, out of frustration, I simply bought the TANE and 2019 versions to see if the DLCs would work without errors/run without problems. I checked there, and it works. Is this normal due to the thing, the DLCs are created before 2022 was released? Can I fix the errors in 2022? Do you have any suggestions?

thanks in advance

An Example:
Sebino Lake -> kuid2:117608:60123:1 Industrial Plat 04

2022:
TRS2022 Industrial Plant 04 Error

In newer versions, they have split the old .texture files in two, separating the image (.tga) from the text (.texture.txt). There is a freeware package by PEVSoft called Images2TGA which will make that split for you quickly and easily. There are many built-in and packaged assets with the same issue, but they seem to get by until you make a modification.

You shouldn't have any errors like this regardless of the version. The only time they appear is when a compressed asset, such as those that are built-in or in DLC packages, are opened up for editing or imported. The .texture files are the compiled texture file (.tga) and the referencing text with the parameters for how to use the texture and characteristics.

When an asset comes from the DLS or third-party .cdp file, the asset will open up for editing and the textures will expand properly. With DLC and built-in assets, this will not work properly due to the assets themselves being compressed.

What causes the error is even though Trainz itself recognizes the .texture files, Content Manager does not and it will complain about the files being incorrect.

PEVs Images2TGA will decompile the compressed .texture files into their separate components, however, this comes at a cost. The textures may lose their fidelity due to coming from a compressed file. In some assets, especially those with low resolution textures to start with, this is pretty obvious.

If you ever have these kinds of errors, among others, with built-in or DLC assets, right-click on them in Content Manager and choose Revert to original. This will recompile and submit these assets and they should work fine afterwards.

I do recommend spending some time checking for updated assets. I do this daily when checking the DLS for new content. To make this easier, I set up a filter (query) to show Installed, Packaged, and out of date.

Installed = true
Packaged = true
Out-of-date = true.

This will list any DLC installed plus some built-in that are packaged. You can add built-in = true as well to cover that type.

Any DLC locomotives you installed cannot be updated, or are rarely updateable, however many other assets can be.

Right-click on one of the assets shown and choose List asset versions. This will open up a new Content Manager window where you can see anything available for download. To make this easier, enable the status column, in fact, enable all the columns since that makes querying easier.

You can't fix newer assets with the pev tool because the textures are corrupted. You have to import them the right way like through the store or something. And I hate that you can't change the whistle like on the NKP steam locomotive from N3V because it is locked from editing, but there are other NKP Berkshire models that can be edited.

They're not corrupted, they are encrypted and appear corrupted to PEV's Images2TGA.

Oh yes. I have also experienced that some or a lot of items were not installed correctly and were therefore displayed as faulty. So if I compared the items with [some website I should stop visiting] and saw, there is or must be a tga, then i had to reinstall it from DLS.

The support wrote me, that a lot of items, which are displayed in CM as faulty, would or should work ingame, but my experience is not like this. I load the route, missing or faulty items were displayed with "rectangle-box" -> I check the kuid-No with surveyor 2.0 -> check the CM = faulty -> I check the preview asset function and if it doen't work, I know there's something really faulty or missing or what the hell.

You need to remove the reference to that Russian website mentioning that here can get you in trouble.
Missing dependencies will appear as orange frames and there is no preview for them. The Faulty filter is too broad and contains missing dependencies.

I separate the two so that I have only a missing dependencies filter and one strictly for faulty assets. It saves lots of time not having to wade through unnecessary and sometimes redundant data.

I also recommend adding in all the columns. Right-click on the column bar and add in the missing ones. You need to do this one at a time. You can rearrange them like you do in a spreadsheet. This is very useful for managing your content.
