Colhad's Vehicle thread....

Hi Col,

They look wonderful, & I've downloaded the 'older-looking' TRS2004 ones, all but this one, which has an error message, saying it doesn't exist:-

Holden Special HR (station wagon)

50587:27259:1

A bit sad for me, as this is the one I really wanted to get to play with.
But I can wait. just wanted to make sure you knew.
Anyone else have problems getting this one?.

:)

Hi Noel

I think that maybe a fault on Auran's end. I've just tried an FTP download and getting a "this page cannot be displayed" message. I dare say we may have to wait until Auran update the DLS again.

This really is a pain in the "something", sorry for all the problems in getting these things up folks. I guess I uploaded my vehicles at a bad time when Auran had just released TS 2009. An update of the DLS would have been expected.

Hope these things get sorted out, I'd like you people to use them in your routes.;)

Hey, I am just wondering if anyone on this thread can get me some pictures of an older US tanker truck. Not a semi version, but one that has the tank right in back of the cab. I hope someone can find one to take pictures of.

Like one of these. Or something similar. There is one that is more flatnosed. If you search yahoo images for 1960 oil truck, you can see the tumbnail, but the website doesn't work, so I cannot get a picture.

Hi jadebullet,

There's something I think fairly similar on the DLS, in the way of a fire tanker.
Both a red one & a green-white forest tanker?.

Col,

I guess we all need to be patient. It must be even more frustrating for you creators; not knowing if it's going to get uploaded ok, & be available. And then the long frustrating delay in re-uploading. Even when it's nothing wrong at your end. And too the guys at Auran who have to try & deal with the mysterious "why is it so?"
(Did anybody see the bit on TV yesterday on Professor Julius Somner Miller??)

But Col one thing's for certain; your cars will be appreciatively ensconced in many routes.
Why ensconced?, well this is Australia (Yesterday was 'our' day), & we traditionally have scones, not waffles. :hehe:

Hi Col,

Noel mentioned this to me so I had a look at it. It shows a 0kb of 0kb to download. Apparently no one at Auran knows why it happens, but every so often it does. For most of these the HelpDesk can fix them for you, they just need to be told. I sent a message for you to the HelpDesk.

Another thing about this problem is that it shows some many people have downloaded it, this is not true. It means so many people have tried to download it.

Hopefully it will be fixed soon and I will let you know how it goes.

Colhad and others, the problem with this content above should now be fixed, let me know if there are still problems.

Jeez! Dixie! How southern can you get? It reminds me how painful it is to live in the south :P Haha, Jk. Great work Col! I love the Fairlanes. Its awesome! Keep up the good work :)

Are you going to do traffic versions? That would be awesome, with V8 engine noises roaring down the street, rather than the rather wimpy bzzzzzzz noise that the normal traffic makes.

I think they can be added to roads in Surveyor, I know you enter a command in the config file of the route, but I forget what it is.

I have constructed a Holden VH Commodore wagon, after doing a bit of Google searching, I came to the conclusion that it is indeed a VH model.

The VH Commodores were constructed from 1981 to 1984.

Perhaps some tweaking to do, but almost complete.

Couple of repaints

a two tone blue

and a couple more, the closest one to the camera looks as though it's been along a dirt road and needs a wash....

An XK Falcon, first introduced in 1960 and they were American.

I see one parked in the street just up from Alderley train station, on the front bonnet it has the letters muddled up. It says "FROD" instead of "FORD", seems typos can happen anywhere, even on cars.

This one might be done, I can't do much better with the rear I'm afraid. With rear tyres, I cut half a cylinder and shaped it to give the effect of a full tyre. It does ok, it does better on the left side than the right though.

hi guys

to make the static cars as traffic you need to add it to the config file of the route you want it in
start with
car00 kuid:XXXX:XXXX
dont miss a number or it will not work

cheers

If anyone tries this, please let me know if the vehicles are travelling in the right direction or not. I can easily change it, the front of the vehicles must be visible in front view of Gmax.

Looks like I will have to upload a third version of the HiLux as I can see it is too short. From memory I think I used a Pajero as a scaling guide, back in the day before I discovered you can use Google to seach for dimensions.:p

Does anyone want to go car hunting for me? I basically need any US car from the 1960s, since that is the time period that I am modeling. This includes muscle cars, regular cars, station wagons, vans, semi truck cabs, fire trucks, ambulances, pickup trucks, anything. I am doing my best to find some to take pics of, but I am in an area where they don't seem to exist at all. (I know that they are rare, but this is kinda rediculous.)

By the way Colhad, you are doing a great job.

hi colhad

it does not take long
i have a spare set of numbers that i use
