Australian screenshots

Sorry for asking, but does anyone know of any nice layouts which would be ideal for running victrainz vr content....
Greetings from rainy Chinchilla. :)

Hey Jezza
You could try the Victrainz Healesville route by Zec, it's at VT, it's practically a finished beta
Oh, and I'll post some more screenies of NSWGR Mongothan tomorrow after school, and homework (absouloutley, of course)
Thanks to Ghosty for signalling it
Jamie

Sorry this is a few posts too late but I've been away from the computer for a few hours and have just caught up. The posts about loco's being marshalled certain ways can also be about loading and the strength of drawgear also. I know up here in QR it has been that way at certain times. I once worked a train that I thought should have had a certain loco at the head but the wiser older Driver told me ( a young Fireman at the time) that it was that way, due to the load that was being pulled and the loading capacity of the drawgear.

It's funny how things work out sometimes. I'm actually finding it more of a challenge to model outback/desolate vs urban areas with an abundance of trees and vegetation.

Pete - no complaints from us, the more railway industry the better! I'm itching to put down a nice big yard with a couple of sidings for the Wombat Flour Mill...

Forest Runner,

To a large extent, urban areas have non-native trees, especially in parks or generally open areas. On a train from say, Newcastle to Sydney, you're in the bush for most of the time. Then you start to see more non-native species in folks back yards, and then perhaps a park.

Of course, there's still going to be plenty of native species in urban areas with parks. Just more diversity.

hert, it's looking really good mate - we have a couple of mines west of Lithgow that are loaded by front-end loader, so that's nice and realistic. The only thing I could suggest, is that the "Candy 81 Class" were never seen with the "PN 81 Class", as before the first one was painted blue and yellow, they'd all long been the all-over dark blue scheme for Freightcorp. Looking a treat mate!

So true mate.

Hert - Awesome stuff mate, look forward to more screenshots :)

Mattm, thanks for answering Demonlord question.

Everyone else great screenshot as typical in the Aussie forums :)

Time to do some surveyor again, been hanging upside down all day 12 to 15 -meters in the air - I need to chill out now and let the blood come back to my feet LOL.

Cheers

Hi all,

great screen shots. i enjoy looking at the updated shots everyday! :) !

Just a question for anyone who would assist with the answer. I was having a look at some of the OLDER (pre 2006) routes that have been out there and i remember the old wingham one by dimi_108 i think it is,

would there be anything wrong with changing some textures and buildings track etc, - not to re-release, but when im done i wanted to share some screenshots..
i dont want to upset anyone on here..

i was gonna send him a message and ask but he has not been online since 2008!!

Without official approval ....from the Commisioner and in these economic times I had to keep the workers busy and hope for the best or start laying off staff (Deleting animated russan workers from the map)
So the DD17/D17 restoration program began.
In Dire Need for a Quote from our Commisioner....the men just joined a union .....I think it was called the "Russian Mafia"

is the dd17 ready in qdr trains or do someone has to send me or is it old content??????

Haven't been alot of screenies recently, but there has been some great work recently (maybe even including me!:D ) Great work with that infastructure Pete, and I am bored of seeing some people asking can I have a copy of that, and this, ooh ooh can you send that to me. And I am pleased to say that this forum doesn't have many!

Jamie, what do you mean, maybe? As i said in a recent PM to you, if all your work looks this good, there's no reason you shouldn't become one of the Authors' whose works we all drool over, up there with such gods as Davido and Forest_Runner (no pressure!:eek::p)

Really, i don't know why you worry. There is very little to criticize in these shots, and believe me when i say i looked.:hehe:About the only thing i would suggest improving is the sandstone cutting you have there. To break up the uniformity, try rotating the textures as you apply them, and apply one or two darker textures over the main one, using a smaller cursor radius. Just make sure they match up fairly close, so they blend in better.
I know how hard it is to get a realistic looking sandstone rockface, because I have several in my current WIP, and I'm still experimenting with them, trying to get them right.

Other than that, it looks pretty good, in my opinion anyway. I'm sure someone will be along soon to criticize further, and point out all the errors that I've missed, but what the hey. We all have our standards, and we'll never please everyone.

Matt.

As usual, nice screenies all. Similar to Alco, I get a kick out of seeing updates each day.

I think I might be getting the hang of this Outback gig at last.

At Flinders, there is no "loco"... locomotives are watered and "serviced" on either the Main Line, or in this instance - the Crossing Loop.
The track behind the locomotive is a lay-by track, which features; a small coal stage, 25,000 gallon water tower along with attached water treatment facility (behind), and the track maintenance sheds.

hey hert,
where did you get the coal heap from

cheers,
patchy

Iam only using built-in assets from 2010. So it is either on the DLS or already built-in to the version your using.

The big heap is CoalHill

and the small one is Coal Pile01

hth,
hert:wave:

EDIT:
Changed one of the maintenance buildings.

Could also depend on the drawgear capacity of the wagon itself. I've heard that during initial tests with the 57 class, there were a few couplers that were ripped out of the drawgear pocket on the leading wagon, and that following this, a major program of drawgear strengthening on wagons, and possibly locos as well, was undertaken. If this is the case, then I suspect that there would have been a few rules as to where a 57 should be marshalled in respect to other locos while this work was being undertaken.

Pete,

Looking good. Nice to see you got the loading area roof at the right height this time. Can't wait for this one to hit the DLS. Now i just need to work where the branchline connections go on my mainline route, so i can have a network of grain lines feeding this mill, as well as the Wombat Flour Mill.

You've pretty much ensured that my current project is a long-term one, so i can get a basic logistics chain set up with your Silos at one end, feeding the Flour Mills at the other.

Hert, nice shots from you as well.

Cheers,

Matt.

Progress Shots

Alright, i know they aren't much at the moment, but i feel happy that i have reached this point of my route. After nearly two weeks, and having laid 15 K's of track, and landscaped/textured ~20 baseboards, i finally got to a point where i could start putting down some urban scenery.

To you more experienced route builders, this may not seem like that big an accomplishment, but to me it is a fairly significant milestone. Having managed to arrive at this point is a boost to my confidence that is very welcome. With all my other routes, apart from Leycester and Wallah Flats, obviously, I had given up long before the 5th baseboard had been placed. I think that now, it's not going to be so easy to give up. I will back up my work so far, though, just in case. Can never be too sure.

Anyway, i'll post more shots when the town looks like people actually live there.
