A better content Browser??

I’m still a noob. Is there a better way of seeing the rolling stock in one’s content, than opening them one by one in Content Manager, or viewing the microscopic pictures you see when adding engines and cars in-game? Seriously, the in game preview is like 1/8th inch high.

Sadly, be aware that many of the thumbnails are of little value as they don't accurately represent the item. DLS (content manager/freeware) info is only as good as what the creator chooses to post...

Here's a tip... (maybe of little value to you... depends) - In Content manager, while on an item you can right click and "Add to Picklist." That's very useful. Picklists are intended to "house" items you use a lot. I also use it this way.... Say you see a number of rail cars, or trees, or buiildings, and you wonder what they actually look like in game. Add them to a "New Picklist" (name it whatever you wish) and then go into game and Surveyor. In Surveyor you can view PickLists. Select your new picklist and there will be those "new" items for you to place on the Route and you can see what it actually looks like in game. The picklist is a quick way to make them handy. (I have a "test" route I made just for things like this.) Picklist's are very useful. Learn how to use them (even if not in this way.)

I think the in-game previewer (window with rotating asset) can be zoomed using the mouse wheel. The black background is a bad choice for viewing and the window is very small, so it’s not very well designed, but zooming in might help.

zoom on the little window?

I did NOT know that, thanks very much! What really brought this up was that I stumbled across a smallish rolling stock with a few logs already on it, but I was busy putting something (Trainz) on the screen for my granddaughters, and I failed to note the name of what I saw. It looked perfect for the Cilie Oldphartz layout, where I quickly learned I need a small train (no mallets - they break within a few corners, lol), so I decided to make it a smallish, older steam consist. So I've been trying to find that already-filled log holder ever since then, and have been stymied by the tiny pictures, and not being able to find it with any keyword(s) I can think of. Le sigh.

Could the already-filled log car have been one of cjlear's?

I think these are industry-active but start out fully-loaded with logs. They are on the DLS and are mostly build 2.9 (TS2009) vintage.

No, it was built into TANE...

No, thanks, I don't think it could have been because it was (at least it appeared in the small preview window) much smaller than these, and it was built in, not something I downloaded. But I sure will check these out!

Open CM & type log in the search window. Click on the little arrow left of installed. Now click on the + to the right of the installed window and select category and then select rolling stock. If you don't see it in the scroll list click on installed and change it to, on the download station.
