5 mph speed limit?

Anyone ever made a 5 mph speed limit sign? I'm looking at some of the "automatic" type industries like coal loaders and unloaders that load/unload without stopping as long as the train is moving slow. I was thinking it would be cool to have AI trains do that, so I looked for a 5 mph sign to place just before the coal loader, can't find one?

Hi Sniper
Don't think anyone ever made one for 5Mph wonder why.
You can download speedties that have one for 5mph that's what I use.
Search for speedties on DLS. If you have no luck I will get the kuid and return here so you can download them. I'm back
here they are 86661:23010 :23005 :23015

Cheers,
Bob

The Set Max Speed To (kuid2:450022:90001:1) driver command let's you set 5mph, but you'd have to set it before the load/unload and remove it afterward for every train and that could get to be a real pain.

I made some 5 mile an hour speed limit signs.

Wooden Speedpost left 5 <kuid:633834:100378>

Wooden Speedpost 5 <kuid:633834:100361>

and Scenic Wooden Speedpost 5 <kuid:633834:100355>

Hope one of those will fit your needs. ;)

There are several on the DLS, mainly UK and Australian, including one invisible one. TS2010 also has some built-in UK ones but I assume you want American ones and they do seem to be non-existant. However it would be easy to clone an existing US sign with an altered texture and altering the speedlimit tag value (remember it is in Metres/sec - 2.2 is the value you need).

Edit Normhart seems to have the answer for you.

Great minds think alike

Actually I beat you to the draw as well, cloned one of my blinking light speed signs then trialed & errored my way down to 2.2. :hehe: Obvious sticking point is the tendency of the AI to slow to 5mph a mile away, even if I add a dozen higher speed limit signs before it.

Main problem I'm having now is I got the load, but not the unload;

Coal Tipple TRS New,<kuid2:60238:26173:1>
Coal drop off Basic,<kuid:86311:45050>

Loads from the tipple okay, but whatever instructions I try it won't UNload going over the drop off. I set up a test route and ran the train myself, anywhere from 1 to 10 mph it unloads each car as it passes the center of the drop off object. As an AI train however, it rolls past at 3mph without unloading a single car. Got me stumped at the moment.

That was the first thing I tried, Drive to trackmark (number), Unload, or Drive to trackmark (number), Wait for (number of seconds), Unload, and various other combinations. Track mark before the "Coal drop off Basic", on the center of it, or beyond it makes no difference. Drive a player train with loaded hoppers over it at anything less than 10mph and each car automatically dumps when it's over the center, but as an AI train it just don't wanna give up that coal.

Hi Sniper297
You need to tell it to drive to an actual industry, rather than a trackmark, as the unload command will only work when the loco has been told to 'drive to' (or 'navigate to') an industry active object on the route.

Thanks Zec, that works.

Odd that the loader works just by having the AI drive from one trackmark to the next, as long as it passes under the loader at 5mph it loads every car in sequence. For a player controlled train the unloader works the exact same way as the loader, but for the AI it's different. Good news is using that method I can eliminate the speed limit signs, it automagically creeps thru the unloader at the correct speed and dumps every car.

I've recently obtained the British Rail Special Notice for Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station in Nottinghamshire. For unloading the speed limit is actually 1/2 (that is 0.5) mph. I don't think there is a 1/2mph speed limit, anyway that would be rather boring to watch...

I'm confused. Why is this such a difficult thing to find? The reason I say this is I have a 5mph speed sign. I'm not sure if I downloaded with a route back in the TRS2004 days, or it's built-in. I can't remember if the KUID is yellow or not in the show KUIDs option. I too use it all the time for yards and industrial areas because anything above that is too fast.

What I did to get my 5 MPH sign was, I cloned the 15 MPH sign. Reskined it so I got rid of the 1. Then took 1/3 of number they had for 15 to equal 5, it seemed to work.
