Don't usually skin a lot of diesels, but those one came out pretty good, considering all of the graphics came from the fictitious logo. I wanted a "large" diesel for the Eagle River and for the paint scheme I combined elements of the paint schemes used on the other diesel locomotives. I took the graphically-designed nature of the pine trees and mountains and merged it with the classic gray stripes that curve to the bottom center on the nose and tail. Not a bad look...

Thanks. I don't remember the exact name, but I believe that's the Pioneer elevator from RRMods.

Hey. Been a while since i've posted. Have gotten into reskinning, and you'll tell i don't have much experience with it, as shown by the following examples below. All of these are personal.

    BNSF GP38-2 #2088 off of Prjindigo's model:

    One of Sporbust's GP60s reskinned into a patched ex-SSW:

The patched ex-DRGW GP60s. I know better versions were on USTrainz before becoming USLW, but i didn't know Trainz existed at the time, so now...here we are.

And an NS GP60 painted into the horsehead scheme. SD40-2s in the background are merely clones of 3384 renumbered.

I haven't really gotten into the more modern locomotives available now, or cnr's...and i'm trying to reskin a B40-8 into Union Pacific...problem is, i can't quite figure out layering. Trying to find out how exactly layering or other things will help me with Sporbust's and cnr's models (later on, plan on JointedRail) in Paint.net or GIMP...but no luck. I'm wondering what would help me? If those questions have already been answered on this forum, send me the link if you have it, or tell me what to search. It'd be a benefit.

    Questions:
I have been searching the web font pages trying to find a match for the numbers used by the Northern Pacific. While I have found gothic lettering to match, the numerals have eluded me. Does anyone know of a match for the Gothic numbers in the photos?
I'm also looking for the bar code, black and white data placard and yellow dots.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.

Uhgh I can't remember what they're called. But there is (was?) a website that would generate those style of barcodes for you.

In your bigger picture, the "NP" letters are the same typeface as the "Northern Pacific" above it, I would use the full name text as it's clearer & has more letters. You can try cropping down to just the text & using https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ but you'll probably have better luck with a bigger picture.

Thank you, Peter. The web site got me close, but no cigar. Considering the font is almost 60 years old it might be hard to come by. I keep thinking it must be out there someplace as the model RR decal companies use it. I may try contacting the NP historical society and see if they have anything.

    Thanks.

    Regards,

    John
