Im trying to download trainz 12, but it's not as straightforward as I was expecting... oh heck!
The product seems to be in about 6 different 'bins'. Have I done something wrong? I'm on about the 3rd download
(each has been 1.45 GB ) and there's more to do. The problem is this, Im going to be up half the night at this rate!
Is this 'normal'? or have I done something wrong? and can I wait until tomorrow to finish off the other bins?

Nightmare!!!

It's a large download and I'd advise using a download manager, n3V recommend free download manager, if using a browser at least one of the files will probably end up corrupted browsers don't check the files are complete.

Half the night is about right I'm afraid, it's not a very fast server, don't forget you can download through your order history if any problems, no problem in putting it off until tomorrow either.

Cheers

Thanks Malc, I will consider the 10 dollar postage a bargain in future!
So, if this goes wrong and I get a corrupted file, am I allowed to try again ...or is that it?
Ekk. This is not half as easy as I thought it would be.

You can download again as many times as you like via your Download history on Planet Auran. Many people have more than one version on the same or other computers. Soome route builders, for example, have one version for their own use, and one kept with just built-in content, one patched to give them multiplayer and so on and on and on.

Once you.ve paid for it you can do what you like.

If you are going to have more than one version, elect to save the downloads to your HDD, and install as many times as you like from there.

In the event of a corrupted file downloading, uninstall using the free version of Revo Uninstaller (Google is your freind), as this finds any registry entries, and then start again. When you download, turn off your anti virus for the duration, and remember to restart it afterwards.

If you are running Win7 or Vista, run the install as administrator, and when installed, right click the desktop icon, Compatabililty tan, Run as administrator.

All the best,

Ken

you have to download all the files, and you can all ways re-download them latter as long as you keep the download link.

When my son discovered Trainz I had no idea what was about to happen to me....
(thankfully I ordered 2010 from Amazon earlier on today).
Thanks all for your help and advice. THis is one aspect of parenting that I hadn't prepared very well for.
I'm going to need a lot more help before I'm done!

Re 2010 from Amazon, I hope it's an N3V version and not a steam one otherwise you'll struggle for patches if needed.

I don't think you can buy the Steam one from anywhere but Steam. At least I've never seen anything for Steam available from Amazon.

Welcome to the Trainz world. :)

You'll be addicted long after your son gives up for something else. ;)

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

Delticfab:

The reason there are so many files is because it's a large game - around 7.5-9GB for the installation files, and about 15-20GB when installed.

As suggested above, use a download manager, and save all the files into the same folder including the setup.exe file. Also, do not rename any of the files.
