Where to put HOG texture files in T12

Trainz Veteran (TEG)
I am creating a prototype route using Microdem and HOG in T12 (build 58414). I successfully created a route with the TIGER (vector lines) as the mini map. However I do not see these vector lines "on the ground." In HOG the manual talks about unzipping the textures.zip into ".. \ World \ Custom \ ground" sub-folder in the root directory of Trainz." However I gather that this is for T2004. Does anyone know where I should put the HOG textures in the version T12 that I am using? I'm hoping that is the problem, that Trainz can't find the HOG textures to display the lines on top of the baseboards.

Thanks for any help.

G'day Derekc75,

Unfortunately, it isn't quite as easy as cascaderailroad makes it out. Firstly, you need to unzip the folder texture.zip (Trainz will not do so automatically for you), which means that will need somewher to store the 70 odd folders that this creates. My recommendation would be to extract the file to your &trainz%/Userdata/Local folder, where, after extraction, you will find a number of new folders named "Hog00", "Hog01" up to "Hog71", each of which must then be INDIVIDUALLY imported (File>Import Content...) in the manner expressed above by cascaderailroad, as per any other normal content...

...on the other hand, you could download the texture files from the following link..

http://www.storage.victrainz.com.au/Jerkers_DEM_maps/HOG_Texture_Set.cdp

...where simply installing the downloaded file as a single file (after it has been downloaded), will install ALL of the individual files in one fell swoop...

...in this case, using the File>Import cdp option from the file menu

...the odd thing about all of this is that none of the above should be necessary. The HOG texture files are ALL "BUILT-IN" content for TRS 2009 onwards (you can check this before you do anything else) but for reasons I have been unable to ascertain to this day, they seem not to be known to CM and therefore do not 'work', until CM is 'forced' to recognise their presence (which re-installing them does, inexplicably defeaings the whole purpose of having them built-in, in the first place)...

Yahoo, the textures work

Thanks to both of you. I did discover that I had to unzip the textures.zip file into a new folder, but when I went to Content Manager and Imported Content on that folder it said that it would import subfolders as well so it imported all of the files at once. When I reloaded the route, the vector lines appeared on the baseboards. Now the fun begins......:hehe:

I can give you much advice on laying tracks and gradients on a DEM ... One major pointer is: Do NOT press the smooth spline button, until months down the road, and only then, when you are satisfied with the cuts & fills.

Thank you very much for that hint. I might get back to you with other questions as I proceed. :D

Cheers,

Derek
