Where are you Auran Folks

Deja Vue....

Anybody remember TRS04 SP3? That was the patch that came about as near as possible to breaking an entire program!

Anybody temember the first couple of months after the launch of TRS06? That was when the community just about disintigrated into armed camps!

We survived those - we'll survive this too.

Downside is every one of those cricis (is that too grand a word?) cost us people - good people - people worth having.

Maybe - just maybe - there's a better way.....

We get Trainz ... We have fun creating Trainz routes ... We don't sweat the petty things ... When the bakery is temporarily out of cream filled doughnuts, we get over it !

Good Morning All
Unfortunately, we are not a large company, and as such server issues do take time to be resolved. Particularly if a simple reboot of the server does not fix the problem... We do attempt to get these issues resolved as quickly as possible, however it can take time. Especially if our team are not available at the time to look into the issue, as most of us do try to have a life outside of work.

In this case, normally it's either Windwalkr or myself who see the reports on here to pass on to our admins regarding outages outside of business hours. Particularly if they are not at a computer 24/7. For me, this was actually the first weekend in quite a long time that I was not able to log into the forums at all, as I was volunteering at a local heritage railway.

As to beta testers, we do still have a team of 3rd party (community/external) beta testers, who have worked extremely hard to test TS12 SP1. However, as has always been the case, some issues were not picked up by them, or were only seen by a very small number of people. We have, however, stated that we are still working on the major issues with TS12 SP1, however these issues are going to take time to resolve.

Regards

I remember those days well. Things did get a bit testy , culminating in the Great Forum Crash.

There is a German proverb among the IT specialists (the proper ones, not the 6yr olds): "Ein Reboot tut immer gut" (A reboot is always a good idea, doesn't rhyme in English). The wisdom in it is that simply rebooting the whole system will fix quite a few software problems, some only temporarily, but some even more "permanently".

I think the solution is very simple. No need to reboot the server. need for additional server

Then the solution would require you to pay more for access to the servers, lets make the content of the DLS 'Payware', or charge
double for the FCT's.
There is a German proverb .........
There's also a Yorkshire proverb ............... "Tha' doesn't get owt fer nowt, less tha' does it fer thee sen". ;)

Roland,

The translation is the same in English, at least for me anyway even with out the rhyme.

I worked for many years in computer operations and IT. A reboot does wonders for many, many issues. ;)

Oh look, another who probably reckons he's an "IT Specialist" but knows less than a 6yr old with a playstation. :o

That has to be one of the best forum put-downs that I have seen in ages! I nearly spilt my pint of Timothy Taylors laughing my head off

Regards.
CaptEngland.

P.S. The Yorkshire proverb was good as well!

......Now, all this talk about 24/7. I'm not saying they have to fix all the bugs 24/7, but I think if you have a 24/7 anything (multiplayer game, online banking, corner store, gas station, etc.), you should have something in place to ensure that urgent matters are dealt with quickly (like down servers, cash registers not working, gas pumps not pumping, etc.)...
You are talking here about a game, not a piece of critical software that will possibly result in the collapse of civilisation as we know it should a failure occur!

It's entertainment, for God's sake!

At this stage I'm reluctant to buy any payware addons such as jointedrail or RRmods locomotives.

In all fairness we posted within hours of the release of SP1 on what our plans were. We hit Facebook, Newsletters, Email blasts as well as these forums to keep our customers up to date. We were ready with fixes to download in less than 48 hours. In the future should there be any issues, you can bet we will be ready as soon as possible with a fix to solution to the problem at hand. We understand these items cost money, and we will not be leaving anyone high and dry.

Thanks.

You guys, along with HP hit the ground running on SP1 issues and should be commended. I've spent a fair amount on your stuff already and will no doubt continue in the future. Good job.

Guy's I realize how fast you moved to make your fixes available, and you continue to provide First class service to your customers.

I did state that I know your products will work in TS2010 and at this stage if TS2012 continues to be a problem as time goes by I

will fall back to TS2010 and continue to enjoy Trainz that way.

I'm just not prepared to spend weekends chasing down countless fixes, editing configuration files etc just to keep TS2012 running.

It takes away the enjoyment of using Trainz when your just patching, chasing files, reading forums for fixes.

Rest Assure Jointed rail and RRmods teams I will continue to support you and look forward to future releases.

Cheers

Jimbo
