Where are my trees gone?

Less problem with vanishing Trees than most, however they vanish when dropping to desktop when in game and only reappear on restarting. Open GL works with out any issue regarding SpeedTrees.

Did you get the monsters attaching to a loco then as you change view angle they move to a bogey and rotate ?

yup speed trees all speed trees and its just not "one scene" its everywhere. Same problem here, never happened before sp1.
It took time to convince me to patch with SP1 and was finally ready.......but know reading this, I not convinced anymore. Too much Pofig's trees on my route. Rail4Pete

You can do it on a new install and move assets over to see if it affects your system, that's what I should have done:'(

Good Morning All
For those who are seeing the speed trees disappear in-game, are you either minimizing Trainz (e.g. going back to the desktop), or are you running Trainz in a 'window' and then selecting another window (e.g. opening/viewing your internet browser whilst Trainz is running)?

Regards

It happens when I do anything, back to desktop, go on the forum or any other site.
Once the trees go I get 1 monster which attaches to any consist I'm tracking and depending on the view angle rotates off a bogey or is bolt upright seemingly attached to a wagon or loco.
Using openGL vs direct x as a temporary measure stops this.

Hi Zec,

No I have not. I am now running with Open/GL to fix this for myself. Trees used to run fine with DirectX.
I tried running DirectX in a window, just to see if that would work and it did not.
I then ran with Open/GL full screen and they are fine.

Video card is an NVidia 680GTX wit the latest video drivers from NVidia.

I've not noticed the problem again but when it did happen I was running in a window. No idea if I changed window while driving or not.. I've not been able to reproduce the problem since.

Firstly I am running Trainz in full screen mode and the only windows I switch between are in cab, outside view and the map screen. When I saw the speed trees disappearing I also noticed from the statistic data that the TNI memory usage (whatever that is) was very high, usually it is in single figures or in exceptional circumstances about 45Mb, however on this occasion it was in excess of 220Mb. I do not know if this is related in some way. I have also noticed that rerunning a session or going into a session after being in edit session that this figure can be noticeably higher at the start of the session, often 45-50Mb instead 0-5Mb on the same session in the same place after just starting Trainz. Is the game not clearing some part of memory between sessions which is leading to display problems.

I said I couldn't reproduce it.. well it happened again. I was spending a few minutes outside of Trainz's window.. came back and they were gone!

Can I just reiterate that Open GL is NOT an option for people with ATI cards? So until this speedtree issue is fixed there's no question of me upgrading to SP1 (never mind all the other issues that have arisen, like pop up, bloated textures, stuttering framerates, missing thumbnail errors etc.)

I support N3V advancing the game, but I am surprised at the number of serious issues that have arisen with this service pack.

Anybody have a large brown tree formed from the alpha-meshes run along with the trains when the Speedtrees disappear.

Yea same here. The trees disappeared and it took a exiting completely out of Trainz and going back in to make them repair. It cant be the too many instances because there was no problem before SP1.

same here, but mine is in TRS2010, not '12. And it's only the SpeedTrees and mcquirel's UltraTrees (or frankly UltraANYTHING) that can no longer be placed, moved or deleted. My trees don't ever disappear, however. I can see those I have added, but just cannot add new ones or adjust ones already there. When it happens is never consistent, only the fact that it WILL happen every time I open a route to edit.

Check how many types of speed tree you have on the route, I think once over 12 you can't place another type, to delete/place a tree check your in the route layer and running as admin. Trees don't disappear in 2010, 2012 SP 1 only.

Yes, bnsf colours, or a blue tinge for csx or conrail.
If you have that go down the consist and keep changing view/angle, eventually you'll find a rotating speed tree spinning off a bogey.
I sent some screenshots in to zec this afternoon. I'd post here for you but not a clue how to.

This is a good one. I haven't seen it yet. It sounds like the trees have taken on a life form of their own. Could these be considered tumbleweeds? ;)

Tell you what John, they'd make one heck of a flail for clearing weeds.
