Whenever Auran first put up their site and forum, which was probably early - mid 2001 just before or after MSTS came out.

Wow, how the time does fly. I bought Trainz on Dec. 1, 2002. Didn't try Surveyor out for awhile but once I did I was hooked. Seven years this month.

Oh dear! What an avalanche of memories I have unleashed with a poor choice of title. :o I was only expecting a comment or two on the conflict of dates and in fact I did consider "I have a split personality". It is nice to see there are so many old timers still around. A happy and prosperous New Year to you all.

23 February 2006 for me. I bought it for myself for my birthday which was one day later on the 24th.

Doesn't seem bad to anyone.:)

I was only expecting a comment or two on the conflict of dates and in fact I did consider "I have a split personality".
I wonder if the forum date can be linked to showing the Planet Auran date instead?

They've always been around. Now getting them to conversate, well, you know how old-timers are...:D

Lol, so many people trying to out-do each other, saying they were "lurking" for many months before joining. :hehe:

"I was here first!", "No you weren't, I was!" etc.
:wave::D:D:D

Anyway, 10th June 2002 apparently, and no, I wasn't lurking for more than a day or two, but I do remember my first post was to start a thread called something like "A bit of bush anyone?"

My sense of humour hasn't changed much.
Aren't I great! (slaps himself on back) :p

Personally, join dates are as irrelevant as post counts, and mainly only serve to create a mis-guided sense of superiority for some, rather than the community spirit you would hope it would.

(Now, if I say that whilst I was visiting Australia on business in 1996, I mentioned the idea of a Trainsim to a fellow enthusiast called Greg Lane, who was CEO of a small software house called Auran at the time, then I will have the ultimate "start date" and I will be worshipped. Hooray for me!!!)

Smiley.
