Product of Alco Schenectedy, Southern Pacific SP-2. A very handsome and powerful engine.

*snip*

I like those, but in their post war looks with pyle national headlights. that's pretty much how i like all my SP engines...skyline casing anyone?

@sawyer: no skyline casing, please. I like my steamers in the nude and always thought the skyline casing on the MTs and AC9s defaced the engines. Too bad they were necessary. That's why I am more partial to AC5s than AC6-12s, much as I appreciate Lilbs cab forward.

MY favorite Loco would no doubt be the NSWGR AD 60 Class Garrett..

firstly because I have been on the foot plate of a few working in service Garrett's My uncle was a driver/engineer for NSWGR during the time of the Garrett I was 5 the first time I rode the foot plate of a steam loco, and 12 yrs old when I last rode a Garrett.. that a couple of months before they where removed from service in 73.. I mostly got to ride them hauling freight up the blue mountains but.. got a go on a few runs to orange, to haul coal.

LOL when I think about it if it was in current times OH&S would of had a fit....

Oh the good ol days...

Unfortunately I don't have any photo's of me on the foot plate.. in those days I lucky get a feed everyday let alone my dad buy a camera.. the only pictures we have are from borrowed camera's..
