What is Trainz Simulator 12 ?

Here is my tough or conclusion about the new trs 12. If it had more feature then what they wrote on the site, they would tell, so, except the new camera view, the multiplayer..., new locomotive and route, there is nothing else and I doubt they removed the compatibility mode. SO it is a small improvement to 2010, and most of all (owner of 2009-10 version) will live without it.

Because of the thread here on post #56 http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=45757&page=4, I speculate about one of the new locomotive...but I can be wrong.

There will be Trainz 2014 ready by the time we'd figure out if we should purchase Trainz 2012 or not. :)
Ther real question is - if Trainz 2010 supports multiplayer (obviously it does already) and Trainz 2012 has no engine improvements (GPU/performance, visuals etc), I do not believe it would be wise to purchase Trainz 2012 at all.
The other question is - will N3V continue to patch Trainz 2009/2010 when Trainz 2012 comes out?

This is the problem everyone wants to know if TS12 has a greater perfomance level than TS 2010, and if i was selling a new version of Trainz to the public and it performed better and took advantage of newer hardware as in SLI/CROSSFIRE GPU'S wouldn't you state it as a selling point.

Hell if it did have those thing i would buy it now without question.
Or is this a guessing contest
which leads me to believe it only a combined version of TS2010 with service packs and multiplayer combined as one with a few routes and payware locos,
as for collectors well not if its opened.
I am not against any company making money but surely there is some type of review or something other than a nice tin box

that is a good thing. all i mean by my post is there is a lot of complaining going on where people have no idea what they are talking about. people can of course do what they want, im just saying dont take a majority of this thread as truth, because it is not.

i am bound by NDA, so i cant specify a lot of things. all i know is that from this side, this thread looks almost like insanity.
 
That's all understandable, having differing points of view and all that, but insanity can be entertaining to witness. I think it's great that you are perplexed, considering what you know. When folks start receiving their copies and reporting back; it will be all the more fun!

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing with you at all, I just remember all the anticipation for things I wished for when I was younger...all the speculation and wondering, and wringing EVERY LAST BIT of information from a printed advertisement. I think this is kind of the same. The negativity may come from folks that don't have the money for what is an expensive offering. They will denigrate the value until they feel better that they will not be able to buy it. I've done that before myself.

I'm interested in what changes there are to the program, I'm not concerned with backwards compatibility, and I hope positive reports flood the forums when it is released.:)

(a) Your partly right. It will take at-least 4 years for some TS2010 procrastinators to decide to upgrade to 12 or 14. It took 7+ years for some TRS2004 diehards - procrastinators to upgrade to TS2010 !!!

(b) As to whether there is going to be any improvements in the game engine to take advantage of higher spec'ed PC's, one would certainly hope so, but only time will tell...

(c) As to your comments about you believing it wouldn't be wise to purchase TS2012. The commercial reality is if the majority of the Trainz community doesn't purchase TS2012 (whether it be the collectors version, or a "possible/probable" standard version) there won't be a TS2014...

(d) If I had to speculate, I'd be surprise to see N3V continue to offer a service pack/s - patch/es for TS2010 after TS12 is launched. IMHO, TS2010 whilst not perfect, is the most stable version of Trainz yet. Particularly CMP 3.3 (besides, there is no revenue in service packs).

I love it when this forum comes alive with so many posters getting their crystal balls out of their closets and dusting them off too see what the future holds. Makes for some exciting reading... :hehe:

To me it's simple. If a "collectors issue" interests you, pre-order. If it doesn't, or you want to sit on the fence until it's released to see what else maybe offered, great, but don't bad mouth N3V for trying to generate some addition revenue so that they can continue to pay the bills & develope Trainz...

Partnership !!! - We rely on N3V to continue to develope Trainz. They rely on us to provide them with the revenue, so that they can continue to develope Trainz. (you don't need to be a brain surgeon to figger that one out)...

I went to a trade school and they only offered certificates in "brain scientist" or "rocket surgeon". My career has suffered ever since...

Mac I agree with you only my reply from 2 days ago was not bad or negative. I just want them to make a normal earning but IMHO they make it so complicated over and over again and threads like these always pop up with the same trainzers predicting the future. WHO WOULD NOT PAY 30 USD EVERY YEAR FOR A GENUINE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM AND HAVE THE ASSURANCE THINGS GET FIXED OR SLIGHTLY ENHANCED. Still they can launch every 3 years or so a new version well i have said what I think for a very long time. How many bought 2009, how many bought 2010 how many tc see.... that's my point you reach far more people if you do it my way and far more customers satisfaction and most of all better secure income every year! Wish N3V listen just one time to an old trainzer who has done this before and very successful. Roy

But, my oh my, what a lot of commotion about something that's only an announcement for a Collectors Item. Ok, it's pricy, I think that too, but nobody is holding a gun to your head to purchase it.
With a bunch of these friendly anniversary guests to the pre party who needs any enemies. :D

It is advertised as a collectors item. Therefore it would seem to me that members buying it will be looking for a long-term investment.

The question is, does anybody think that Trainz 12 collectors edition will appreciate financially as a long-term investment.

Speaking for myself, I can think of better long-term investment such as antiques. Or are we saying Trainz is already somewhat antique

Maybe the really true really collectible version of Trainz would be a mint copy of Trainz Community Edition. Even then, as much as I collect, I do not want one. :o :p :hehe: ;)
