What are they doing?....

I can understand if the forum breaks down by bad, wrong, making mistakes or whatever when configuring it but as ANY web master worth his/her salt knows, one can try out a new forum look, new configuration, implementing a new feature etc. OFFLINE and test the cr@p out of it and then, only then, when things look good and work correctly, transfer these changes to the forum on the server(s).

So, what was it this time that the forum went off?

Not happy

Agree.
So why they took the whole thing down for a week were any half skilled technician could have fixed the forum upgrade in around an hour (after ofc testing a data migration on a test machine) is a mystery.

For the temporary forum down earlyer tonight, I am starting to fear that Cascaderailroad's explanation might be closer to the truth then we can wish.

The night office vaaccuumm cleaners musta' tripped over the power cord to the server, pulling out the AC plug, knocking it offline.:cool:

This one ???

I can defend N3V on the week long upgrade - how often do you get an excuse to abandon the whole joint and head out for a kegger and a bonfire?:Y: Meanwhile, up here in the NORTHERN hemisphere, it's WINTER and most (especially you guys in the UK) are stuck inside and the weather sucks!:hehe:

Hey c’mon guys, aren’t you being a bit unfair.

A bit more sympathy towards the technical support staff wouldn’t go amiss.

Pedalling that bicycle can’t be easy with a metal post stuck in your right armpit.

Difficult to stress test the forum off line though.

Also difficult to stop the servers in the US going off line, which is probably what happened and outside of N3V's immediate control, it was the weekend.

Hey, it's better not to bash the developers/network admin of this site. Problems happen and we all have to get used to it. It happens frequently that the internet in my whole town dissappear for a while so it's not rare Trainz Forums disconnect for some hours. Probably there is a network error or they're just "improving" the forums.

You don't need the forum to be online 24 hours a day, isn't there other things to do?

The question VinylBarb asked is not really important, (I for example, I did go to sleep when the forums were down) doesn't matter because it doesn't interfear in your daily routine.

I'm not bashing per se, just having a little fun with it :p Pretty sure (at least most) of us were:o
@ Mezzoprezzo :hehe: you ain't right:hehe:

All in good fun

@korikovaVL80
Someone on the planet will be using the Forum throughout the 24 hour diurnal cycle.

You might have been asleep, but many of us were trying to get into the Forum fully awake yesterday evening (alter time according to personal longitude) whist you were cuddled up to your teddy bear. Some would have been at lunch, some eating breakfast. Others would have been skiving a work. The withdrawal symptoms for many of us were reaching critical level.

I don’t see any bashing here, only joshing. All members with registered versions showing on their timeline are allowed to do this!:D

@gearhead2578
You’re right, I aint right!:p

Since you mean it that way, you're right. And no, I don't have a teddy bear in my bed anymore (maybe women in your country have, who knows) :D The Tararstan hour differs hours from US, UK and New Zeland. :S

Joshing? Registered? I still waiting for reply about this give away.

What this talk about who is right and who isn't by the way?

I don't understand what he do... But looked like old movie :D You're not alone with cold, I have 35 minus celsius right now here in Kazan... Brrrrr :(

When I hit the lottery ... I'm gonna' vacation bi-anually in two separate hemispheres (Northern in summer ... and Southern in summer). And I'm gonna' change my name ... To something like "Rich" ... Then when everybody see's me walking down the street, they'll all remark: "There goes that "Rich" B****** ", he's a real D*** " !

-35 Celcius, is not that far off from Farenheight -38.

When you get -129 F, with a wind speed of 229 mph, with blowing ice crystals, in Antarctica ... it'll sand blast your face right off !
