IJB
Our dear friend, IKB. I mean the one with the top hat of course, the great man himself. What a remarkable person and what a remarkable railway he built. Sadly he worked himself to death, literally, and far too early IMO.
An icon for us all. And the railway wasn't the only thing, there is an enormous list of amazing achievements to go with it.
So one reason I felt unable to call my efforts at recreating his edifice, GWR, GWL or anything similar, I haven't got that much cheek! WCL or west coast line it had to be as it went from Paddington (bows reverently) not Euston.
Route creation: I try my best, but now that reads tried my best. The love affair is over. And I am seriously thinking about packing it in with the forum as well.
This place has changed a lot recently, for the worse I have to add, and that really is a sad situation. There is a group of people that are so selfish it is unbelieveable. The 'Me, me, me' syndrome strikes again. I want to do what I like and to hell with everybody else. No respect is shown nor does there seem to be, in the UK screenshots anyway, nor for a general consensus to improve quality. There are a few that post super shots but in the minority, and many are being actively encouraged to post any sort of rubbish and then be praised for it, and by long standing members who should know better and be aiming higher. There also seems to be a tube vision effect on locomotives, so as long as one is in the shot it doesn't matter what else is. Well all trains run in a real world. If you go to a railway and stand next to it (as I have done at Dawlish at a private beach) you cannot see any grey base board, the ground is covered in some sort of a texture called grass/soil/sand or whatever.
Yet these same people want better Trainz versions and better content but are happy to run on bare boards and minimal track. So what is the point of the continued efforts of Auran to please them?
There really is no point and indeed no excuse at all, for posting a shot of a train on a bare embankemt with a fence along it, no point in laying miles of track along bare flat boards and claiming to have 'built' a railway. Sorry, I cannot buy into that mindset.
So it came to me in a flash, what is the point of being on the forum at all, particularly with reference to the UK scene, when that is the attitude of a wide proportion of the people? The smaller minority who try to improve our outlook and endeavours are shouted down with statements like 'People can post what they like.' I suppose they can, if they have no pride in what they do, but it doesn't say much for them, does it....?
I am at the point where I feel exasperated with the whole issue. I am unsure which way to go, but it looks more and more like it may be away from the forum.
When I was severely abused on here a couple of years ago many folk gave me moral support and that was wonderful. But it was a different forum then somehow.
So as I won't post on the UK Screenshots I may pop a couple on here, just so those that criticise can see what they are going to miss....
And after that..... Oblivion?
Blessings to you all,
Angela
