GLIO – Route Extension – is there any interest?

I have started to work on an extension to the route “GLIO Great Lakes Iron Ore Route”. The plan is to add about 70 miles. Coming out of the station Kelly Lake is where the extension will start. The vision is to first climb out of the lake basin for about 10 miles. Second, cross the watershed divide for about 2 miles. Third, follow a creek/river out of the watershed divide for about 15 miles. At the end, will junction to high-speed double track following a major river with low grades, about 50 miles.

Is there is any interest in viewing the work in progress (WIP) route? I would upload the route as significant changes are made. I would also discuss the progress and view comments on a forum posting.

I make no promises of ever completing this route.

I did get contacted by Trainz to do something similar to the above on their Trainz Roadmap Website. I replied with some questions but it has been a while with no reply. My intent is for this route to remain freeware.

Also, is there anyone interested in creating a realistic heaped load for the GLIO ore cars?

I'm sure there will be interest but don't build for others and instead build for your enjoyment and upload the route if you want. There's a lot less pressure on you to provide and less of a chance of making a promise about a route that somehow dies on the vine due to various problems.

May be there are a half dozen members interested in viewing the GLIO route that is “work in progress”. Also, perhaps they are interested in reading my comments, via a blog, on how I add to the route. If I was to upload WIP and start a blog, I would be really interested if members had comments, advice or discussed other ways of creating routes.

I have reviewed the Trainz’s website https://roadmap.trainzsimulator.com/tabs/4-3rd-party-releases. These routes are all payware under development. I’m not sure if any of the creators have freely shared their routes, techniques, and thoughts as they have worked on their beautiful creations.

The Trainz website https://roadmap.trainzsimulator.com/tabs/6-download-station currently has no free routes shown. I may post the GLIO WIP on it to let new members know there are free routes under development as well.

I will go forward with the above plan and hope enough members find it interesting so it doesn’t piss off some of the rest of you.

Below are screenshots of the current WIP.

Looks interesting to me, and I wouldn't worry about pissing anyone off. This is your route, enjoy the process, and you are beholden to no one. I think it's a very worthwhile endeavor and a rarely touched upon subject by most builders.
