WCL2 (S2) Complete

Some suggestions

I have TO's the route and come up with a few suggestions.
Firstly 10059:2 is not even on my PV - anywhere, so I can't do much about that one, probably got lost when the shop failed to transfer all the Trainz data properly (they made a bog of it basically and I lost over 6 Gig - I was NOT very happy).
132572:3900 Actros Harsch could be replaced with 97008:29464 truckLionhead.
213782:100007 is AC MWM spare_dual_spoked_wheel by AC Monkeywrench. So no great deal if you can't get it. Not on the DS now.
78925:101:1 is a Pillbox as used during WWII for coastal defence. There are still a lot of these around.... It's on the DS.
68608:10050:2 is HobbyCentre1, no longer on the DS by the look of it.
49338:29001 is a bus (single deck) that stands outside Ealing Broadway station. You can replace that with something else of you choice.

Louise, I think you mean 1942, not 1924 (your PM)? If so then :-
1942 26012 is Barclays Bank, should be replaced with 1942:26112
1942:23005 is a Bus Stop, the white stops used as fare stages.
1942:50030 is Bus VA. This is a double-decker so you can replace with a London one. They may be available from his site as already suggested in a previous thread.

316:26027 is Spider, a fairground ride and that looks as if it's no longer on the DS, a pity, there aren't many good rides. It's by austin316hockey. You can replace with either Trabant 316:26012 or Scrambler 316:26013, both on the DS.

71619 assets are Greenery ones, see the link I have put on the initial pages, that should download all the ones I used because that's where I got them from
22101 22103 are not listed in the TO so I don't know where that popped up from. 22201/3 are and they are bushes and I did use those. 22337 is G:tree37 oak 20m, 22338 = oak 21m. 22340 is G: tree ash light green 15m and 23343 is lime 22m. All these are in the pack you download.

9:21019 is a HOG file, a texture, and should also come in the HOG pack when downloaded, there are no seperate ones. If you are missing it I suggest you download the HOGs again.

Well, it's time to get dressed. It's 0750 hours and I have just spent since 0505 doing this, getting on for 3 hours. I need a coffee!!!!

Angela

Had that...

Thanks for that :) Get a well earned Coffee :)

Hello Louise,
Had that, feel miles better....
Didn't get up at 0500 hours for the fun of it either, the blinking milkman woke me jangle the bottles on my doorstep. I tried to get off again but my mind goes into turbo once I am awake so it's pointless just lying there.
So thought "Might as well do something useful" and got TO running.

It is odd that the Spider has gone missing, that fairground ride. But there are others you can switch for it. I originally thought it was by Alien3 so searched on that name but came up empty.
We can't afford to lose the more unusual assets like this, there are precious few of them.

You will need to connect all tracks back to the AJS invisible stations too. For some reason they got broken during the merge. It's no great deal but of course the route won't run with broken track joints. As I recall and without bumping the whole route up, they are at Hungerford, Pewsey and Westbury. Not sure about Kintbury, might be one there as well. But none on what would have been the first section, so not prior to Aldermaston as I don't think I used them way back when....
Oh, and set the ATLS assets in number sequence otherwise the crossing don't work. If you get stuck PM me. 7 mocrossings in all and all after Aldermaston.

Doesn't Trainz do some odd things at times, it never ceases to amaze nor surprise me!

Bless you,

Angela

http://jrh1973.110mb.com/steamcanuck/warehouse.php This is the new site for austin316hockey content. All his rides are here.

Angela Dawlish is between Plymouth and Exeter not Penzance and Plymouth (re previous post). Just downloaded your merged route and although I already had WCL1 and got WCL2 with all assets, the merged route suddenly found 161 new assets so must assume some of the WCL1 assets have been upgraded.

Len2480 The Devon Lines 2004 version covers the steam period from Newton Abbott to Exeter plus some of the other branch lines but the scenery was not completed on the branch lines at the time of release. It was created before dem routes so is a little bit out height wise but the scale is correct.

Dear Stagecoach,
Yep, should have known that, Alan and I went and stayed at Shell Cove House Hotel for a week when I was building the 'N' Gauge model of it, all in foam board too! See my site link below my Sig. Just shows you how bad my memory is now.
So I'll look forward to doing that, it will bring back some happy memories. I love it along there, so wondefully scenic, but to be honest, not really practical for running a railway along a coast because it got swept away. It still gets shut if the weather's bad too. I walked along the top of the cliffs and found that old gate off its hinges so scrambled right down to the tracks and waited for a train - unfortunately none came! Of course I could walk then...

I had Devon Lines on my PC but there was hardly any scenery, just bits. It was a huge route so if Len wants to have a go it will keep him happy for ages.

I expect a lot of 2004 assets are slowly being updated now so this will happen more and more. I haven't altered the original WCL1 at all, merged it as it was.

Hi john am in 2010 myself :)

Hi Louise,

I have made a start on your dem! The first stage is to import the required Streetmaps into Tranzdem and coordinate them, quite a tedious but necessary task! As you live in Trowbridge I have tried to include most of the town in case you want to show your house!!

I have also included Westbury, which is on Angela's route, as I suspect you want this as a standalone route. However, if you want to add to Angela's, just delete duplicated boards and you will be able to make an accurate merge.

Will try to do some more later, John.

Edit: Have now reached Bath with the streetmaps, but will have to leave for now as I have to get my wife ready for bed, John.

Dear John,
many thanks for helping Louise out on this one John, a very kind thought and I know it takes some time and a lot of patience to do.
Hope Jo is well?

Angela

Dear Angela,
I have always been a sucker for helping the ladies!!! Mind you, I have also made a few dems for young lads on here but have still to see any results from them. So far you are the only person to have uploaded a route made with my dems, but I expect the others, being young students, have a lot more important things to worry about.

Jo is ok, though they still have not found the cause of her anaemia. Did I tell you she has had 8 bags of blood over the last few months? This is on top of all her other problems, she is having laser treatment to remove fluid from behind one of her retinas tomorrow!

I hope you are keeping well, all the best, John.

Right Stagecoach...I had your route on 2004..The Saltash Bridge was the best part...I must admit I am not big on scenery..I have done the the route from Paddington to Plymouth, both via Westbury and Bristol, with the Torbay branch line..but as I say just the Stations and tunnels,Signals etc. were done, except for the Torbay Branch which was the area I grew up in....Will mosey on down to Plymouth..from Angelah's untill she comes out with another section, and then scrub mine and replace it with hers.
I transferred the two combined sections to an external hard drive via CDP..the first section was Ok,but the second section track didn't tranfer right, though the track is there, its just depicted as white dashed lines,so looks like I will have to replace it...Will take time, but have a lot of that I hope.Leonard

Hi Louise,

I havn't seen you on the forum for a day or two, doing the day job I expect!

Anyway, when you do see this can you confirm it is ok to continue with the Westbury to Bristol route in Ts2010. The route is installed in 2010 at the moment and I am about to sort out the track bed. As you have probably seen in other posts, the free SRTM data we have to make do with for uk Transdem routes is not totally accurate and so the terrain needs a little adjustment, specially in river valleys! As I have much experience of this I will attempt to correct as much as I can before passing on to you, John.

What I do is to buy the OS Landranger maps of the areas as they give the height contour lines and then it is fairly easy to adjust and check every now and then along the way.
This is what I have been doing around and near Bruton. This has high hills, embankments and valleys with rivers so the DEM gets really messed up. But the OS map helps out enormously and can set up heights very accurately. It just takes more time.

Hi John thanks yep 2010 is fine :) Thanks for attempting to sort out the TD for us. Angela I will try my best to to connect the 2 of your routes up :) Now I am living in Trowbridge just up the road from Westbury :)

Problems

Dear Louise,
If you have problems (some have in 2010) with the merge then go get the completed 2 sections I put up.
If you do remember that during my merge all the tracks at AJS stations were disconnected, so you'll need to reconnect.
And also to set up the ATLS mocrossings, there are 7. Work your way from Aldermaston because the next section, the one I am working on now, will also have them so the number sequence will need to continue on.

Good luck,

Angela

TY angela I have the merged route although not had chance to play with it in great depth not a bad route there I got to say :)

Does anyone know if there are any aqueducts on the DLS? I had a quick search last night but was not successful. Maybe they come under a foreign name so my search is not finding them? We will need them for the dem I am making for Louise. John.

Angela,
I have had a setback with the route I am making for Louise, Ts2010 threw a wobbly and completely mucked up the track work I had done. No, I had not saved prior to this, you would think I knew better with my experience!

Anyway, would it be alright with you if I incorporate the Westbury area from your route into this one? That is when Auran put us straight on merging in 2010! This would give me a good start and the impetus to make a fresh start! Thanks, John.

Westbury

Dear John,
Oh absolutely, anything that will help out.
Sorry to hear of your problems..... it seems 2010 has a few.
Personally I have not had any spare time to do much in it, just ran the ECML for a while, being so busy with WCL3.
The main thing was I supported Auran by buying it and as time passes I might go for a lifetime ticket. How much 'lifetime' I have left is anybody's guess of course, at my age you never know....

Do what you wish John, the route is yours as much as mine.

Bless you,

Angela

Thanks Angela,
I have deleted all surplus boards to leave just the Westbury area of your WCL section 2, if only Auran could respond as fast as you (over the Ts2010 merge issue) ! I have managed to merge but the resulting map is very unstable so obviously something is wrong, John.

Second version

Thanks Angela,

I hate to say this, but you could try the completed two second merged version and delete the boards from that.... might be better but take forever deleting boards!

It is frustrating this problem, but I expect Auran are working on it in the background, it is after all in their own interest, it's just a pity they never post a message about it.

Or, just had the thought, sent it to me in 2004 and I will see if I can merge for you....

Blessings,

Angela

Hi Angela,

thanks for the offer, but a route created in TS2010 would not be backwards compatible. I have noticed that a lot of the FMA assets in the WCML will not work in 2010, perhaps these errors are interfering with the merge? John.
