WC In The North Woods

Well today was a beautiful day to hit up some RR action north of Green Bay....We are set up just out side of Oconto where there is a siding located here and a spur for a lumber yard where they unload centerbeams here at the siding and truck the wood to the yard......
Our first shot of the day was a MOW crew making its way north thru Oconto and seen here crossing the Oconto River

They pull into the siding here at Oconto to wait for the train GLFDA which runs from Gladstone to Fond du Lac...You can see the spur located here that has 2 centerbeams that need to be picked up by the NB that will be thru here later today

We catch the SB coming into Oconto as it slows to make its way thru town

GLFDA passing the MOW crew here at Oconto

With a lil bit of street running in down town Oconto the train slowly makes its way thru town

Last 2 shots we catch him crossing the river as it heads for Green Bay and then onto Fond du Lac

Today we caught a Spoil Train headed for Trout Lake. At the front was a GP40 and trailing was a SDL39. Only took two shots, passing through one of the many farms along the way:

Some very awesome shots in this thread! This combination of routes look like a must download! I have relatives who live not too far from there and having been near there in my youth, I like the look you guys are aiming for.

I'm surprised no one else asked, but here goes...

WC, do you or does anyone else know if the MOW equipment in those shots are available to the public?

You forgot to reply to my last pm WCL! :hehe:

As for the compliment, it's my pleasure! I'm not from the area, but my mom's side of the family grew up there (Atikokan, Fort Francis, Schreiber ONT). It's too bad I wasn't older when I was young (AFAIK CP does all their east/westbound traffic switching in Schreiber and I can still remember the loud hums of the diesels when I visited at my relatives there). I used to go visit my grandfolks and relatives and I miss being up there during my summers. Clean air, beautiful lakes, no traffic...

It's too bad you run '06. I know in '04, you can add the tag -showkuids to the trainzoptions.txt file and it will show you the kuid of any object you select. Maybe it will work in '06? It comes in handy not for curious folks like me, but for when there is a problem with an item or when you are looking for something and can only do it by KUID.

If anyone knows where those types of MOW cars can be found, please let us know! :D

Well I did not plan on catching this nice surprise today when I went out RR fanning....I was heading home from Green Bay and had the scanner on...I heard that a train was leaving the yard....So I got off on the next exit and headed to the lil town of Little Suamico and waited to catch this train.....So as I waited for this train I heard him getting closer and closer....When he was into view I was shocked to see what they had with this train today

Here they had a Conrail SD80MAC....They lease these trains from Conrail for the Ore service up around Escanaba and Superior area...What they do is if they lease 3 SD80MAC's we have to give them 3 of our WC units

We then thought we would hop in the car and head to Oconto to catch him fly thru town

He then slowed up a bit to make a pick up in Peshtigo where he had to pick up some log cars in the siding

Here he is stopped on the Peshtigo River bridge ready to do his back up move

A nice close up of the Conrail

Just a shot that I thought was cool

With his train back together...He notches it up and heads north out of town

Here is a real pic of the SD80MAC in action up north
