WC In The North Woods

Today we chased L545, A WC Local which runs the short distance between Trout Lake and SSAM. Today's consist had one SD45 and around 20 cars. Our first shot see's the train passing the Trout Lake Depot (Please note these places have been updated, I just have an old copy of the route :P):

Passing through the countryside:

Approaching Rudyard:

Passing the town:

Another countryside shot:

Rolling thru Kinross:

Past a Farm:

Approaching the station at SSAM:

Parked in the yard at SSAM. You can also see a CNW Loco which has come to SSAM to be serviced:

Hopefully will get some more up at a later date...

Tom :)

Here is a lil twist in things on this route...Seeing that this route also has some ELS trains in it...I figure I might as well add them and do a lil running with them...They don't run to much on this line..But in some of the areas they do....

In this case today we caught the local ELS train that runs from Menominee to Crivitz....In Menominee they switch out one of the biggest customers in town which is a paper mill....Here we see the crew heading out of their lil engine shed to head to the small yard on the other side of town....Note the RR NO TRESPASSING SIGN :n:

Coming around a bend right before the yard

Here is the small ELS yard that is located in Menominee...This only holds cars for the plant

Pulling a cut of empty tankers and loads of boxcars out of the yard and heading towards Crivitz

With the train all together...He gets permission from the WC dispatcher to hop onto WC rails to the city of Marinette which is a few miles down the line where he will hop back onto ELS tracks and head towards Crivitz

On WC tracks the train heads for Marinette with only a few cars...On the return trip he will have a lil more to store some cars in the yard

Well thats all for now....Till next time

Excellent shots! I'm not one for Eastern Railroading but the WC-CN operations seem very interesting, and you've got me hooked!

Oh, man!

What kind of FPS do you get? I see a lot of Trunda's trees, and those usually kill my computer in large doses... :hehe:

Well its a pretty good PC.....If you think I have a lot of these trees that will kill your PC...Then Adams A Perfect Summer route will NOT be for you lol....That route is COVERED with them trees left and right.....But mine does not have a lot so you should be ok....Thanks for the comments :Y:

Today we are in Menominee MI where we catch a meet....Todays meet is the A412 from SSAM on its way to Green Bay..And the ELS local that runs from here and Crivitz...This was a great day to catch the ELS 600 ex-WSOR unit that the ELS picked up....Also with the ELS today was one of 2 SW units...This was the 1200 and they also have 1201...They usually keep one of the SW's here in town but on this day it looks like it was heading back towards Crivitz for service

Till next time

This morning we headed over to Marinette to catch some action around the area....
When we pulled up we seen the Crivitz to Marinette-Menominee local come into town...But he had to wait for the SB WC train A412 to pass on by

Few moments later 412 came into the picture with a nice 3 set of WC units...Lash up was on the point an SD35 followed by an SD40-2 and then a GP40

Passing the Marinette depot and the ELS train

Here 412 is passing the MCC high school and the football field...They sure have a nice view when this train comes on by...Friday night they play at Crivitz so they wont be able to see a train

When the WC cleared the main...The ELS local got onto WC tracks to head up to their yard up in Menominee

Here we see 412 slowing to come into Peshtigo

Coming into Peshtigo we see him about to cross over the Peshtigo River

Over the bridge now he passes the only siding in town...This siding is used for log loading

No set outs or pick ups for today as the train keeps on going south for Green Bay...............Till next time

Talk about a Screenshot rampage J, LOL :p Great shots!

In regards to the frame rates, well other than places like SSAM etc. I normally get really smooth frames. But even when I get to SSAM it doesn't slow down all that much :)

Tom :)

End of the line..........This is where it all takes place....Green Bay Wisconsin.....Here we are set up at the way far north end of the Green Bay yard right where it crosses Military Ave....This is where the ELS also comes into Green Bay......Today we are set up at Military Ave to watch A411 leave Green Bay and make its way north

On the point is a 2 unit ex-BN set with a big block of boxcars for the mills up in the UP

Looks like another foamer wanted to get some shots of the ex-BN's as well...At least I was not the only one out there today

This is the old CNW line that ran from Green Bay all the way to Wausau....Now its all gone and it is turned into a state rec trail called the Mountain Bay Trail....This is the starting point for this trail

Well till next time.....Might see if I can get some yard shots of some SW 1500's working the yard....."HINT HINT ADAM" :p

Well we made it to the yard today and we seen a lot of power laying around...

First off we seen some WC power...An SDL39 and an F45 sitting in the yard

We also seen the 2 sister ELS SD40-2's sitting in the yard

A set of WC units switching the north end of the yard (well they are not Adams SW1500's just YET) with the block of ELS cars that came in from Crivitz

Then some UP power came rolling on by (Yes Steve I know it is suppose to be BNSF...BUT this was WC days) to get its empties from the tracks on the south end of the yard to take back out to the coal fields

Then we went up towards Marinette to see if we can catch one of the locals that run up that way.....Sure enuff...Right out side of town we caught one of them coming into town

Pulling into the small yard here in town to cut its cars from the power right behind the high school

Last shot which I thought was pretty cool was him sitting by the layover track up by the yard office

Well thats all for now....Till next time

A quiet day at SSAM:

Someone was asking me what does this route cover....Well here is a map showing on what lines and towns I all covered...Bare with me on the maps cause I put a few of them together to make them all fit in 1....The line between Marinette and Green Bay...There are some towns not on the map but I put them in the route...All the line you see on here are done on the route ...
