WC In The North Woods

Todays action is around the Green Bay yard.....We await one of Green Bay's coal trains the UPGBC....

Our first shot we see him coming past St Marys Cement plant right out side of the yard

He then scoots past Broadway tower as he hits the switch to head him to the power plant

Pulling into the yard and slowing to get ready to back down the spur to the plant

Shoving a cut of cars up to the plant

Power zipping on by

At the plant now we see him backing under the unloader...For some reason the plants switcher was no where to be found...So that means the UP power will have to empty its own train

After this we knew that this will take a long long time...So we thought we would come back tomorrow to see if he has left or not

As tomorrow came we shot right over to the yard quick to see if he was still their or not....On the way to the yard we heard that he was still their but getting a track warrant to head back towards Fond du Lac...His warrant went from Green Bay to CTC Appleton

And that was our trip to the Green Bay yard.....Wonder what and where it will be next time.....Till then

CN train A411 pulls into the siding here at Oconto to meet with its counterpart A412 where 412 will continue on its way to Green Bay and 411 head on towards SSAM

One of the WC locals was spotted departing SSAM. A CNW unit was on the train, after being being fixed at the SSAM loco depot (Although still pouring out smoke :p). Didn't get the camera out quick enough so a bit of the lead loco is out of the pic :p:

You mean your computer was lagging, right? :p

Nice shots guys, drove past the Green Bay yard twice today already. Was quite busy. WC GP40 kicking cars, ELS power mingled in with CaNoodle garbage, and I saw another WC GP40 switching a cement plant on the old GBW line.

That place would be called Sanimax...Its a rendering plant...Almost looks like a cement plant...But the cement plant is on the other side of the HWY......

Will have some pix up maybe later tonight of some areas I worked on today......

Yeah, I couldn't tell with the quick glance over my shoulder. Was raining and traffic wasn't exactly ideal for rubber necking!!! :D

Hate to double post, but where did you get that UP engine?

Yes....Steve was for sure right about the Green Bay yard being busy....So I took a spin past down there to see what was all going on and this is what I caught
I was on top of the bridge that over looks the yard and once I was over it I looked over and shot this pic....Lots of power down there today

As I got down to the yard I seen a CN switching the north end of the yard, the ELS power going up to the north end of the yard to get its train to head back to Crivitz for the day, and a lone WC GP40 sitting in the yard

Then I shot a shot of where all the power goes once it comes in from the south...Looks like we have some GE power down there along with a SD40-2

I quick shot this shot of the GP9r working the north yard

I then got back in the car and headed for the north end of the yard...But first stopping along side the yard to shoot the SD50F and SD60F's back to back

Along with the BNSF coal train power waiting for its cars to be emptied from the plant

As soon as I got to the north end of the yard...The ELS NB was pulling across Military Ave

At the ELS Jct this is where the CN Marinette Sub and the ELS line split out in the Howard Industial park where a few miles down the line he will hop back onto ELS rails

Getting ready to cross Velp Ave

The last shot I shot is him crossing Velp Ave where soon he will pick up speed and do a whomping 25mph all the way back up to Crivitz

The route looks GREAT guys. And thanks JJ for the ELS video link, I forgot about those videos. Always nice to see ELS run-bys.

Went to Franz today to see what was happening. As soon as we got there, sure enough, a WC local arrived to exchange cars with CP. Up front was a lone GP30, still wearing the SOO livery, but with WC markings:

Meeting with the CP, which had a MP15AC at the helm:

After the changeover, we see the CP train departing:
