Just a question- Did Jankvis make any (JVC) grass splines wider than 20 metres??? I takes forever to cover large open areas with 20m and less grass splines.

Heres some more on my route.

Chris, I'm sorry but, ROFL :hehe: , DUDE, it seems like your always asking for the "quick, easy, instant, magical" way to do things, SLOW DOWN, you'll find that nothing worth anything in life comes easy or instant. Creating a decent route takes time & patience, when you get done you'll really appriciate it much more, it will give you something to be proud of, and it also will give you more appreciation in just what it took for others to do their routes.

The pics you have posted of your route looks like your coming along Great:D , take your time and keep at it.

Andrew, GREAT SHOTS!:D , I totally love those TOFC's, would you please be so kind as to tell us where you got them? Thanks!

Mike, Awesome close ups, as usual:D . Glad to see you got your problem solved too.

Hert, GREAT SHOTS!!:D , I wish they done a WSOR engine like the HLRX you posted, many of WSOR's engines started life out as UP engines, they look just like that HLRX till they get painted.

On my side of the tracks...

Well, i downloaded ALL the UP routes from TrainZitalia, WOW, WOW, WOW,
they are FANTASTIC, really, they done a stupendous job on them. As a whole, the routes and steam engines i got from there was really worth the money spent, if your a big UP fan, i strongly recommend getting them, it will be money very well spent.

Each route has is good points, and minor problems...Sherman Hill is just over 100 miles long, scenery looks to be real accurate for that route, be sure and pay real close attention to your map and switches though, or you'll be leaving the mainline at least 20 times before you get to the end...before they packaged this route up they should have made sure the switches were thrown to keep you on the mainline. (I ended up going into surveyor and throwing the switches to keep the train on the mainline, then saved the route) . This route had the best looking ground textures of the three.

West From Denver is about 75 miles long, its really my favorite of the three routes, VERY BEAUTIFUL SCENERY, lots of tunnel running starting midway through it though. My only real gripe on this route is 90% of the time the track floats between 6''-3' above the ground, 5' above the ground in a couple spots, that makes taking screen shots of it hard to do unless you take "airplane" shots.

Rollins Pass, Is the smallest of the three routes, but is really done just as nice as West From Denver, I really liked running on it, NO floating track.

**Since these routes are pre-TS2009 I expected the scenery to be not as good as it really was, Glad i was pleasantly surprised, they really done an OUTSTANDING JOB! It seemed to me that 90% of the vegetation was right up to TS2009 standards.

One thing that normally just bugs the heck out of me though is ground textures, sure, I understand that they are what they are before TS2009, on older versions of Trainz you get what you get and thats it, you cant help it, thats just the way it is. The whole reason I bought TS2009 though was because it was the closest to real life lookng Version of Trainz that has come out(well, untill TS2010) , so I am a little up in the air on weather to change the ground textures on these routes just for the areas of about 100 yards on each side of the tracks, just to make screen shots look a little better.

If you go outside and the ground looks like this to you, you need glasses...

The ground should look more like this...

Thats just one example of what I'm talking about, the same goes for grass, rock, Etc.

The steam engines I downloaded from there were real nice too! Like i said before though, they have the common TS2009 steam problems, but that can be fixed.
The F-E-F comes in two versions, NEW looking, and with the UP greyhound colors(man i like that) .
The Challengers come in three styles, New looking, UP greyhound, and weathered. (I'm a HUGE FAN of weathered engines)
The Big Boy comes weathered.

I opted NOT to download the Huge Boy, they done a Great job on it, but it never existed, and i'm kinda a realist(cant you tell) so I didnt get it.

SCREEN SHOTS...

Iginc, I need to cover entire boards with grass splines. Covering these boards with grass splines 6m, 10m and 20m wide will take agesfor this and i'll probably lose motivation.

Chris,

Andrew, Thanks very much for the link!:D , cripes, i have had ALL the UP engines from there since the first week I got TS2009, but some how missed the flats:o , THANKS AGAIN!

Hert, GREAT SHOT!!! :D , it totally reminds me of when I take the Metra into Chicago's Oglvie Station, it looks very much like that going into it.

I take the "Harvard line" into Chicago, the line was owned and operated by the CNW, now of course its owned and operated by the Union Pacific:D .

Chris, I know what your saying, have you ever seen the size of some of my fields;) , it took me AGES to make them, but then i figured out how to use TS09's "cut & paste" option about a month ago, now if i want a large grass field i just go to one of the large fields i have already made and cut & paste it as many times as I need to to create fields where needed;) .

Thanks for the kind words. This is one of the freelance routes I am doing. But in the Port of L.A. Going from the seaport through L.A. the crossings were converted to bridges so the rail and road traffic could go unimpeded. Which is the inspiration for rails being under the streets.

Actually you cant copy or paste splines in any version

hert:wave:
I'm sorry, didnt see where Chris said he wanted to paste splines in his origanal question:o , I dont paste splines, just fields of grass I made that wasnt in the splines section, i can post a shot doing so if needed;) .

I painstakingly use Jans grass THATS NOT IN SPLINE FORM and make a large field, it takes forever to do, but i have done it countless times, then i figured out TS09 has the cut & paste option, NOW i just cut and paste the grass feilds i have already made to whatever size i need, and do it as many times as i need to make the size field I need.

I dont know if that option is available in versions below TS09:confused: .

Yes it is(it was introduced in TRS 2004 I believe) you can paste Height and Textures as well as objects, and don't forget you can rotate your pasted selection for a more random effect.
