Thanks a lot!:)

I sent a copy to the folks at aurun (too large to upload to the dls in the normal fashion) about 2 months ago, and haven't heard anything since, even after repeated queries into the progress, so I guess they're not too interested in it.

I think what will happen is that John B (grogstop) has offered to host the route on his site (Trainz Eastern Routes), so it's a matter of getting the route(s) off to him.

I've sent the routes out to about 10 people to get their impressions and requests, and will probably wait for a few more weeks until the comments have been addressed.

I'm not sure whether it will be freeware or payware, but if it is the latter, it will be cheap - hopefully a dollar or two. That is something I need to discuss with the potential host.

Thanks for the interest.

The Local has just coupled to a string of tankers in Gladstone Yard and is about the head north to the oil pier

Here is another picture of the same train switching out cars at the Oil Pier.

Very cool!!!:D

Keep em coming!

And let me know if you have any issues you think could be addressed before I submit a final copy.

Thanks again for your (and everyone else's) help.

Mmmmmmmmmmm..............Beeeeeeeeer....................drool,drool............

At first I thought those pesky coal trains caused more problems than they were worth, but after thinking about it a bit, life isn't always easy! I kinda like having them running around now - makes you a little more aware of the bigger picture, and having to keep an eye on where they are, when coming up to key points along the route (the single line sections). I've tried to get the signalling as realistic as possible to protect head-ons. That's why you may notice that on some longer stretches of single track mainline, there are no signals, as I've assigned the whole section as a "block", and that way, (in theory anyway:rolleyes:), another train SHOULDN'T enter that section (Assuming Alistar didn't stop for a pint at the Bud brewery!)

Looking for some wheat

Had a chance to use a Switcher in running a few covered Hoppers from the siding yard to the wheat silos so to be ready to ship them out on the next freight run

Great shots (again)

Jack - since you've been so helpful (and seem to be enjoying the route), if you're interested, I'll send you the final version with all the edits and maybe even a few sessions, at the same time I send it to TER.

Thanks again for all your interest! :)

Hi Neil, and Thanks. I've really enjoyed your layout. It is so easy to work with. I have not found any spot that couldn't be worked. All points/switches work and I like to make a schedule of events and jump around on the layout watching each task being performed. I don't know just how many consists I can run before my puter faints, but I'll let you know when and if it does.

Later.

P.s. Again, thanks for thinking of me and you updates

Neil,

What about changing some of the passengers stations. Only the ones that use Multiple Industry New. If you could change them to Station 30M it is track with an invisdle Platform. You would have to sink the stations and platform alittle so that that you don't people going through the platform. What I have notice is that when I use the Drive to XXX station and Load it loads like a feight train it goes one car at a time. However if you use the station 30m it will drive the train to the platform and the doors will open. When you use Multiple Industry New it doesn't do that.

Let me look into it.

Okay - the five offending stations have been upgraded using the station 30m track. Thanks for that suggestion, I like the results a lot better!

Just a quick update

I've downloaded a bunch of those new grass splines (FMA), and they're becoming addictive. So there's a bit of an upgrade happening to the scenery - will post some shots in a bit.

signalling long stretches of single track

Neil,

The route is very nice. I'll start posting some screenshots here.

The 03 and 05 signals are for the purpose that you mention here. They allow for following movements while protecting the block for opposing traffic to the next 01, 02, or 04 signal.

For example: for a train moving left to right accross these signals...

02 05 05 05 03 02
04

The block for opposing traffic is considered from 02 to 02, but the 05 and and 03 signals would allow for as many as 5 trains to follow in succession within that block.

Portal Troubles

Hi Neil

It seems, once again, I don't understand how to use a command. Portals have gotten me confused for a long time now. I tried, doing a passenger run with CN TurboTrain PDC and ran from Gilby to Gladston. It worked great for the Blainseville and Halden reversing. So I figured instead of running a session in reverse, I'd go into Gladston Portal IN and use Gilby Portal OUT and keep the session going and going and going. It didn't work.
I got a stack dump, because the portal command couldn't find Gladston OUT. Go figure, as I wanted it to come outa Gilby Portal OUT. Help, please

Jack:o :D

Neil,

I have been running the route now for several weeks. As mentioned before I like to let the AI engineers do the driving following my commands. The only issues I have found is that I have had to add a few additional track marks after a junction to make sure the driver knows track to take. This is not necessary if you are driving your own train, but it has made my life simpler by adding some additional track marks at critical spots. This has proven extremely useful when going from a single track stretch to double track to make sure the the right track is used.

Also on long sections of track I have found it useful to add a track mark before a turnout to avoid a distant train from taking control of a turnout too early and causing problems with the train approaching the junction. Again, no show stopper for someone driving their own train.

Also the invisible speed signal v2 make a great feature. The Midwest Central route that has been recently posted has over 50 of these used in the route. The base session is used to set them up in the proper way. I have learned a lot about using this time of speed signals from studying this route.

Again great work. I am sure that your final release along with the sessions will be well worth adding to a lot of people's routes.
