ugly trains

...........You would have to ask one of the Eastleigh Works people about that I expect!

Also interesting, if anyone knows, is why the 4-CEP / 4-REP cabs used on the Kent Coast (as your photo) had a different appearance (squarer cab windows, squarer corridor connector, external jumper cables) than the 4-CIG / 4-BIG cabs used on the South-West Division?

Personally, for sheer ugliness, I think this effort takes some beating!

Actually don't mind that, has some character about it. Looks like an old railcar? Maybe worth restoring to original condition.

Those crazy russians (sorry if I sound racist) To be honest, I bet that this is what the heavy from Team Fortress 2 would drive.:hehe:

THAT LORRY IS A SPY!

EDIT: did they put a steering wheel in it?

I talked to the guy who originally uploaded the picture (I was going to make this some time ago for trainz and gave up) and he tells me that yes, it does have a steering wheel. Putting one in wasn't that hard, since that particular type of locomotive uses a throttle that looks vaguely like a steering wheel. According to his story, it steers with the front and rear axle, and handles rather well. Very Powerful to say the least, but the idea (if I understand him right) is that it is used something like a modern day skidder.

Edit: I LOVE the idea of the Heavy driving it. That is just something I could expect to hear him say...right before the Lorry blows up in his face.

It's an old street sweeping tram car. They were used to keep the road portions of tram and trolley lines clean of trash.

This isn't an ugly train... IT'S AN UGLY TRAIN CRASH....

Who knew a few pints could lead to this.... Wow. Just, wow.

To be honest, I think the train wouldn't have survived that...

Swedish Ljungström steam turbine locomotive of 1921. I don't know what the appendage over the boiler is (the later LMS one certainly didn't have anything like that) but the appearance of the tender is because it is the condenser for the exhaust steam.

The electric steam locomotive is a old worn old 0-6-0 tank engine from Spain. They would wear out and the railways would convert them electric shunters

Actually it's Swiss and was a conversion during WW2 because of the shortage of coal and was converted back in about 1951. More details here. Incidentally your photo seems to be reversed.
