A steam whistle is vocalized, in a higher voice, as "wooooo-WOOOOOOOO!"
A single note horn for an electric locomotive, as a GE, might be vocalized in a lower voice as "HONNNNNNK!"
Most American diesel electrics have or had multiple-note horns that sound like a chorus of trumpets and/or trombones. They are generally in the range of the adult male tenor.
How does one vocalize these typical American D/E horns?
Generally speaking, one mimics a trumpet as a high-voiced "dah dah DAH, DAH, dah!"
How might you vocalize this typical diesel horn on the following GP9?
