TUME’s Simulation of “The Milwaukee Road”

Where might i find the Avery/Drexel Milw loco's to put in 2010? They only seem to be in the sessions section of the route. Thanks. By the way I remembered how to open all of them up. Box Cab & Little Joe's pretty cool.:)

Seasonal replacement for the Avery turntable

Hallo @all,

eventually I have got the seasonal replacement for the Avery turntable done and installed it at the route.

Special thanks goes to James M. for his excellent advisement about the config arrangement for such a seasonal turntable.

Now there are only two houses left to be created and the area around the Avery depot has been fully reworked.

Just see some views onto the maintenance yards at Avery, Id with the turntable the roundhouse the motorhouse and the sand tower.

Hallo @ all,

last but not least a little gem could have been added to the town side of Avery, Id.
I am not sure when the well has been built but it can be found at photos from the time around 1910 to 1915 and at photos taken in our days.
The RR unfortunately left Avery but the well remains and made its way to be seasonal simulated now in trainz.
It’s the last detail needed to be created and to be placed to put this area of the route much closer to the reality than it was before.

Hi Tume, My name is Tim. I have been following your thread since you first began. This is the first time I have posted. First of all I wanted to say Awesome job at re-creating the Milwaukee Road. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA. My grandfather was an engineer for the Milwaukee Road.

Hallo Tim,

nice to see your post here and that you followed the development here through all the years.

Thank you for the photos. I found the same pictures some month ago in the Internet :-)

I guess construction activities are to remove several pollution created by the MILW's maintenance facilities. We have several heritage RRs around my hometown and the people who are doing all the preservation needs to take care of such things too. Yes RRs are not always clean as well as the most of the industry grown through the last 100 years. Better concrete materials in our days can help to prevent such pollutions e.g as it prevents oil to get through the bottom of the engine sheds into the soil.

I wish the MILW could have done such clean up by itself and trains would still run beside the - now perhaps smaller - maintenance facilities.

Do you know which locos your grandfather used to operate? If he also lived in Washington he may drove Boxcabs and perhaps the Bi-Polars at the Coast Division.
i hope it will not be a too long wait until you will be able to enjoy the Avery-Drexel-Section in its new now improved and seasonal appearance.

Have a good weekend.

My Grandfather worked out of the Seattle yard. Mostly drove the Bi-Polar Locos. He worked for Milwaukee until they ceased operations. He also drove the SD-40s and the GP-9s. Unfortunately My Grandfather passed away 12 years ago taking with him a lot of memories and information.

At the beginning of the 90's, I started to be interested into the MILW as I found a chapter about the Bi-Polars in a big book about locos from around the world. Of course there was also a brief history description at this chapter.
I like the design of the Bi-Polars very much - it contains much more character as the machines from our days.
I could not find too much in the literature about the MILW. Mostly articles contained information about the NP. Of course this situation changed within the growing internet.
I bought Trainz 1.1 in store back in 2001 and started to look around as a route builder beginner :-)
In 2004 I found the EF1 boxcab created by whitepass as built in content at TRS2004. Therefore I desided to start my MILW-project.
At first I worked at the Ellensburg-Tacoma-Section but moved to work at the Othello-Kittitas-Section because it was really difficult to create a dense large forest due to PC power limits. Unfortunately I soon came to the conclusion that a grass and bush land is even more hard to create :-) But I continued working at the Othello-Kittitas-Section until 2006. In Mai 2006 I bought a DVD about the Montana Division from Pentex. Impressed by the Joes i just created the Joe in gmax but had no "playground" to run it. therefore I decided to get a little portion around Avery done. this eventually resulted in the Avery-Drexel-Route-Release as builtin within TR2010. in between I continued working at Othello-Kittitas but now I am back in the Bitterroots to update the TS2010 Avery-Drexel-Route in a seasonal way to to implement several more improvements. Also I changed some places as I now found more information about details here and there.
I hope I can bring up some memories about the MILW and the people who worked for it providing a chance to show how the things used to be to the next generation which never saw this great RR in operation.

I know this is out of place, but I'd like to know if you have placed or are planning to place your 'AJS-TUME' roads, the accompanying ground texture, and curbs on the DLS. It'll be really helpful for people who feel a bit limited by Andi06's roads, which are basically two lane roads with each lane in opposite directions, unlike yours, which are one-way roads, allowing people to make multiple lanes going in the same direction. Your roads are very helpful for me when I try to make a route with tracks in the street. If you don't plan on doing that for some reason, well, I guess I'll have to find another road that I can used in place of those roads, if there is any.

Hallo Jordon,

you probably mean my road stuff released as a part of my Municipal Transit Railway at TS12 - right?
Thank you for your interest in that. I need to discuss this with N3V as I don't want to put builtin content onto the DLS without permission.
In the other hand as these assets have already embedded into trainz - meaning TS12 - I don't see any difficulties for you and anybody else to use it. If you use builtin content for your routes, everybody will have got it as well because its already part of the game. But perhaps you are concerned about something I don't think about right now.
In all cases I am very very busy to get the update of my Avery-Drexel-Route finished and therefore I will not do anything besides that stuff during the next two month. You are very welcome to get back to that matter to remember me after that time :-)

Hallo @ all,
details makes a route good and interesting looking.
Locos, cars, tracks and catenary of course plays the main part, but it does not mean that the details does not need to be arranged carefully as well.
Now with the river inflow assets on the following screens we see some of the latest details which I just updated to a better performance including season change support.

There have been talks about a new version of Trainz coming. So if I was to put it on the Download Station, and your roads aren't built into the edition of Trainz (if there will be), that means that your roads will have to be available on the DLS. If it is put on the DLS, this will prevent users to receive 'unknown dependencies' when they download this route from the DLS, if I do complete it.

Hi Tume. I cant remember if said earlier if you were going to put the new version of the Avery-Drexel rout on DLS or not. I used to have TS2010, but that was on my old computer. I don't have the software disk for TS2010 anymore nor do I have my old computer anymore. So needless to say I don't have the Avery-Drexel route anymore. I can honestly say that the route was my all time favorite because as I mentioned earlier my grandfather used to work for The Milwaukee road. Not to mention the fact that it is truly an awesome rout and the attention to detail is out of this world. I found out from my father today that my grandfather used to also work on the Milwaukee Road Sumas Branch line from Bellingham, Washington to Sumas, WA. That line was a former Northern Pacific line To Canada as Bellingham is only about 20 miles south of the Canadian border. The line is hardly even used nowadays but is owned by BNSF.

Hallo @ all,

the replacement of the "MILW-Wood-Bridge-02-TS09" was one of the last things at the open point list of my seasonal Avery-Drexel update. Now the seasonal replacement asset has been created and implemented into the route and its named "TUME-601106-Wood-Bridge-5m-TS12" :-)

The screens indicates the seasonal track asset used to create Northern Pacific's S-Curve-Viaduct which once carried NP's Lookout Pass line near Mullan, Id. Unfortunately the original viaduct has long been gone.

Looks great TUME! I am looking forward to the release of this great route.

I'm glad to see you are putting my mallet to use too. You may already know this but there are 3 more numbers available on the DLS for that type of locomotive.

Hallo,

thank you for the informaion - I did not know jet :-)

This loco looks very great I wish it would support season change. But perhaps it would be possible to get the permission to create a seasonal version from it as well.

Hallo - you may know how the Avery-Drexel-Route thumb picture looks like in TS2010.

Well, now it looks like this:

Tume, I need to know if you can do something for my version of your route that I have no idea how to do. The problem with my version of your route is that in some places the bridge supports that I use cannot reach the ground, i.e. the Kelly Creek and the Stetson bridges. I need to know if you can replace the track on 'Bridge-Kelly-Creek-01-TS09', <kuid2:82412:71041:2>, 'Bridge-Stetson-01-TS09', <kuid2:82412:71030:2>, and 'Bridge-Top-16M-01', <kuid2:82412:71040:2> with 'JR MS Conc1', <kuid2:45324:38018:1>. I think that the width of the bridge decks will have to be widen, but these are the only places on the route that the track on the bridges does not match the track on the ground. If you can do this, I'll greatly appreciate it.

4-8-4 Please?

Hey, I have been wondering for a long time, Tume, and I do not want to offend you in any way, but when are you going to release those 4-8-4's? If you are, could you make them function for TS2009 SP1 please? Thanks, I'd appreciate it!:udrool:
