TUME’s Simulation of “The Milwaukee Road”

@ Jordon:

As you can see at the screens, I already updated all of my trestle assets to support season change. But this will not help you. I plan to release some of my trestle assets without any track at all. This will provide the possibility for route builders to use my trestle assets with any kind of track they want to. The only thing is that it will be a bit more difficult to arrange the whole trestle inside the route. But it won’t be a big deal for experienced route builders – I guess. This “deck-girders-only-assets” will support season change as well. Probably I will make it as a spline object rather than a track object making it a bit more easy to setup the track and the bridge independently from each other. But I will have to see.
Still at the moment, I am about to finish the seasonal Avery-Drexel-Update and this will keep me away from doing something else. Therefore I cannot tell you any release date for the new bridge assets you need. But its already been considered to be done.

@ cmoehrle

At I wrote above I am about to finish the seasonal Avery-Drexel-Update. After that I need to rework my locos and my rolling stock – because seasonal routes requires seasonal trains running at it. At the moment the Avery-Drexel-Route represents the time period between 1969 and 1971. Therefore the Joe, the Boxcab and the SD40-2 as well as the GP9 will be released in as seasonal way within the route.
But after that I plan to create a second seasonal Avery-Drexel-Route representing the late 50’s as the Olympian Hiawatha has still been operated. Mainly I will have to remove the Interstate 90 from the route to replace it with an ordinary 2-lane creating the old Highway 10 which used to be at the position where the Interstate 90 has been constructed later on. Also I will need to install a Northern Pacific station at Saltese, Mt which used to be there before it has been reduced to a single track without any buildings beside at the time when the I-90 has been constructed. Perhaps the 485 kilo-volt power line which runs near Eastportal was not there in the late 50’s which I need to investigate. After all I would say it will not a big deal to convert the route from the early 70’s into the late 50’s but it requires some work. Within this route I will release the Joe and the Boxcab in the old MILW color scheme. In addition to this I will create and release seasonal versions of the latest state of the EP2 (appearance after its been reworked) and the EP3 as well as the Erie-Built-Diesels and the Olympian Hiawatha Cars and eventually the S3 Northerns.
I would like to support season change which requires TS12. But I can imagine to create a version of the S3 for TS2009 and TS2010 as well – but I want to talk to N3V before I do so. In the other hand I really hope that I made a good job in creation of seasonal content and creation of seasonal of the seasonal route that people who played with it never wanted to switch back to non seasonal stuff – that’s my goal :-)

If you can transfer everything over from '10 & iron any bugs (I don't think there will be) then yes. I was looking at routes & found this route up for download by somebody else. I don't know if they got tume's permission though. If you download it of the DLS make sure you have a FCT, it's 46 MG for the basic DL itself.

Hallo cittycraft,

Thank you for mention that.
And NO – “somebody else” did not ask!!!

It is quite easy to get the route out of TS2010 to get it running at TS12. Especially as every content used at this route has been uploaded onto DLS by N3V.

  • Open the CMP of TS2010
  • Right-Click onto the route in CMP
  • In the opening menu get to the point “Edit”
  • In the opening sub menu Left-Click to the point “Edit in Explorer”
  • In the copy the asset folder from opening explorer window into another location of your choice
  • Close the CMP of TS2010
  • Open the CMP of TS2012
  • Import the route from the location where you saved it to before
  • Right-Click onto the route in CMP
  • In the opening menu get to the point “View Dependencies”
  • In the opening window Left-Click onto “View in main list”
  • Select all assets in that list which you don’t have already installed at your PC and download it from DLS
This should work well!!

Is this the route: Avery - Drexel,<kuid:682163:100069>
has pennsylvaniarr01 as author?

That’s the route, but PennsylvaniaRR01 did not ask for permission.
From time to time I also ask people about the possibility to use their content – mostly if I want to upgrade it to support season change functionality. But even with permission to do so and to release such content using my name I give credit to the original creator into the description as it is a matter of decency to do so.
Sometimes if I want to use an asset created by somebody else I offer the possibility that I do the work to upgrade the asset to seasonal asset in order to send the new asset back to the original creator so that he can upload the reworked asset under his own name.
But actually I worked at the Avery-Drexel route quite hard for years and I don’t want to see it released under the name of another.

it does download into trainz 12, but there seems to be 22 faulties,at least its not the track.

Hallo,

you already have got TS2010, so you have the route and the rolling stock too!!
Just the 4-8-4 has not been released jet - just read about that some posts before at this page.

So, if that is the route, and this PennsylvaniaRR01 did not ask permission, does that mean it is not on the DLS? That was the only route related to your content I could find. Otherwise, where can I find your route, with your name?

Paul

Hallo @ pdkoester

yes the route is not on DLS and the unpermitted upload has already been removed. You can find the route and all of its content as builtin content at TS2010 right now. At the moment I don’t have a date for the release of the new Avery-Drexel-route which will support full season change like you can see at the screens.

Hallo @ all,

last but not least I created seasonal signals for the Avery-Drexel route. But this time much more detailed than the signals I once created back in TRS2006 times.

The screens indicates the signals at the west switch at Kyle, Id and at Adair, Id with Tunnel 25 in background.

@Tume
PennsylvaniaRR01 still has a route on the DLS and the info for it is the same as Avery-Drexell and the thumbnail. Its just called Rocky Mountain Way. Im hesitant to download it to see whether or not it is the same.

@ flyboy559:

Thank you very much for this information!!! :-)

It reached me yesterday evening and I created a helpdesk ticket again. I have got a helpdesk message back that the route has now been removed again. Now there is nothing else at the DLS from that user so I guess PennsylvaniaRR01 is something like a fake account just for the purpose to do unauthorized uploads – the Avery-Drexel-route in this case.

@ nickelplateroad

I sent you a private message.

Bulldozers & Caravans

Hallo @ all,

just some more seasonal replacements to substitute non seasonal assets at the Avery-Drexel-Route.
The screens indicated several versions of a Caterpillar D8 Bulldozer and a 50's style Spartan Caravan.

I read your response: funny part, a boxed version costs $9.99, the download version is $29.99. What gives? I would buy the download version if it was same price as boxed version. Then, I read the details, it does in fact show your route on there.

Hallo Paul,

interesting price difference between boxed version and download version :-)

As you probably can imagine I do not have any influences to the price management of any versions of trainz :-)

I just provided my Avery-Drexel-Route to N3V in order to be released within a new trainz release. Eventually the route has been included into TS2010. I did not earn any money for that but from this point I have a nice collaboration with N3V and could learn a lot about content creation and so on. And I take this as a reward for my work.

Why don't you go for the box?
I have bought some boxed trainz versions too and I actually like to have something in my desk drawer or my bookshelf to look at it or to touche it rather than just some bits and bytes on the hard drive :-)

Well, this just got more interesting, I found it on Games for Windows Marketplace, for $9.99. I am downloading it! So, anyone that wants your route, should do that. It is much easier to keep track of and retrieve later if stored off my computer. I have fast connection, so it doesn't bother me. But, I already have TS12, with SP1 and both hotfix/patch files installed. Can I install this in conjunction of what I already have? I want this route. OMG.

UPDATE: well, I was able to install it alongside the TS12 install. Edited the route to force it to my name, exported it and contents to CDP files. Imported back to TS12, and now I am happy to say this route is in my latest TS12 SP1.... WOW! Thanks TUME, for the splendid route.
