Hi guys
I have twice attempted to download the beta test file, each time have tried to open it, I get the message " file is invalid or corrupted"
I have followed al instructions carefully,first pre-ordered the dvd,entered
the serial number into my profile, then went to the website, and downloaded,
saved the file to my desktop, got the zip file icon.
Now I am presuming that the "KEY" mentioned on the download page is
the serial number that I recieved in the email, when I ordered the dvd.
I use AOL as my ISP, and I am on WINDOWS XP.
HELP !!!

Hello, were you able to extract the folders from inside the zip ??
When does this message appear, before you open the zip or afterwards when you click on the installation icon ??
And yes, the KEY is the serial number.....and I also presume that the file is 2.6 gigs big and you had no problems with the initial download from Auran onto your computer ??

Have you completed the download?
What browser version are you using?
Are you using a Download Manager? Which one?
What size is the file on disk?
What utility are you using to unzip?
Have you tried other utlities?
What is the exact error at which step?
Do you get a hardware check?
Do you get an option to enter your serial number?
What operating system are you using?
If Vista, are you logged in as Adminstrator?
THere are lots of steps that could be the cause of your problem.

The thing is that thousands of people have downloaded and installed without problems so we need to find more information about what you are doing differently. Then we can find a solution for you.

Good luck,

Tony

This happened for me the first time I tried. The second time all was perfect, so as they say "if at first you don't succeed try again." :) All is good now.

Cheers

I tried about five times to download a clean copy and eventually had to give up. You may have the same problem that I have, which I suspect is a poor BT line, and the larger the download and hence the longer the time, the greater the possibilty of a corrupted file.

This is a download manager that most people have had good success with.

I downloaded it using Free Download Manager in 100 minutes but although the game ran well CMP would not open.I uninstalled it a couple of days ago and tried to re-download it again usig FDM but it showed estimated download time 19 hours?

Lewisner - if Trainz was running fine then your download was fine.

What happened when you tried to open CM2? I.e. when you clicked on Content on the Trainz Launcher, what happened?

Tony, there was a pause and then I recieved a message saying Content Manager had encountered a problem and needed to close. My main PC decided to retire a couple of weeks ago so I was running the Beta on my "old" PC with 1 GB RAM and a 256 Mb graphics card, but it always ran TRS2006 fine so I don't think the fact its a lower spec machine can be the reason for CMP not working.

Hi Ahsan,

XP now has service pack 3, are you saying SP2 is preferred

Cheers
Pete.

My video card drivers are fine - the TRS2009 graphics were great in the game very sharp and brightly coloured but the FPS were very slow.I had TC3 installed on this PC for a while and I could open Surveyor after about 20 minutes but Driver would not run.
As I said earlier any attempt to open CMP in TRS2009 or import Content using the Download Cart would cause the game to crash.

The reason why CMP isn't working, is the fact that you probably have no Open GL drivers, I.e. using the windows drivers. Get the manufacture drivers where possible.

WEN - where do you get the Open GL drivers?
AHSAN - I used Driver Detective to upadate the drivers on my high spec PC a couple of weeks ago and only later saw a warning on a computer forum that DD could turn my PC into an "expensive doorstop".It is now a very expensive doorstop.I have installed TRS2004 on my old PC and it works perfecto.
