TRS2009 patch help?

When i opened 2009 yesterday it tells me there is a patch that requires DirectX 9. I've been looking for the directX upgrade but all i'm finind is SDK versions of it. is there a normal version out there that someone knows about and if not how do i go about installing the SDK version. keep in mind that i'm not a software developer or even very computer literate. i use my machine for entertainment and web surfing.

It sounds like you are using the full software developers version of DirectX, which is hard to install.

I would strongly advise using the websetup version at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3 - all you need to do is download the file, then run it and follow the wizard which will automatically update DirectX for you.

If an internet connection is not available on the system running Trainz, you can download the Redist version from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=3b170b25-abab-4bc3-ae91-50ceb6d8fa8d.

To install the redist version:

1.Once the file has downloaded, create a folder on the desktop for the DirectX setup files.
2.Run the file, clicking Browse then select the folder you just created when prompted.
3.Go into the folder you created (and selected in the previous step) then run dxsetup (it may appear as dxsetup.exe) then follow the instructions to update DirectX (You can delete the folder after you finish the DirectX update)
