TRS19 Service Pack 2 Released

Apart from the Midwestern Branch saga, I have just one asset showing as having an 'Update available' (<kuid2:122285:1012:1> AJS Terrain Spline 20x00 ) but displaying alternate asset versions shows the next KUID as being in an "Unknown location".
Any hints, suggestions where to look, please? Ta.

I've got the same one, PC_Ace along with some sessions belonging to Roy's Canadian routes. As explained to me by Zec Murphy awhile ago, this is due to the asset being updated on the server but not released yet. This has something to do with the package-server and there's nothing we can do other than ignore these assets for now.

Speaking of the Midwestern Branch, I never had an issue with that one and never saw the other route appear in my list for download. Could it be because I'm on Plus?

Many thanks, John. I shall ignore that purported 'update' then...
Hope you enjoy the very best of the holiday season and an even better New Year!

How do I get round the Content Update error message of 'Some featured assets of resource ''simc:sc486' are missing required dependencies. Please check if other resources need updating.'

This was for the Canadian Rocky Mountains update, but I've had similar messages on other updated routes.

There are seemingly no other resources that I can update and clicking Retry as an option doesn't do anything.

EDIT: DBR sorted it...

Thanks,
Paul

Installed update but keep getting update message

I installed SP2 no problems, but now every time I load the game it comes up with update available message even though I have updated. Any ideas how to stop this message.

Routes and sessions. Confusing isn't it? So many versions. I'm Plus/Gold - and I do session beta testing so I can have a: TCCP beta version, an Early Release version, and a store version (and as shown below, a "promo" version?).

It's so easy to loose track of what's going on and what package I'm currently looking at. Installed packs have names like: beta test:519, preview:sc385, sims:sc247, promo:tdd029 (what is that???? "get info" says "Status: Purchased, ID promo:tdd029, Version 97563 but no description") when did I download that????, etc. But in game you have no idea what you are looking at as what is displayed is the kuid. The info should also include the package id. (or am I missing it somewhere?)

TRS2019 - Multiple Faulty Assets - Multiple Missing Dependencies

The upgrade to Sp2 has turned in to a disaster for me.
Like post #66, going to preview some assets in CM triggered a crash to desktop. Not every asset but enough to make it a russian roulette experience.
Each time, the asset which was to be previewed came back after reboot and DB rebuild was then a faulty asset - which upon examining the error and warning details presented only warning messages and not errors.
Then after approximately 24 hours after yet another crash to desktop it would not restart at all.

I elected to go to Mytrainz and start a new installation.
After doing this I now find that something like 455 assets are faulty, with missing dependencies. some of these are potentially unfixable - such as TANE Trk Oak which, despite being an Auran asset has its dependencies at an "unknown location". Another casualty is the Stanier 8F from PLL since paulhobb's animated scoop version 43 is again, at an "unknown location" and his internal cab is faulty, with literally dozens of "missing texture.txt file" errors. With the asset being 2.9 and not using tga/jpg textures this is a lost cause as far as I am concerned.

ECML Edinburgh to Dundee has failed to update several times now, with that "normal" Failed to download precached data for package 'scXXX' at version 'XXXXX' for platform 'standard-X style of message cropping when it says "view error" on the update page.

So, I have backups for my content and payware from asset creators that I have commissioned. so I am going to bulldoze the drive of all TRS2019 related content and start from scratch. If the next attempt to install TRS2019 ends up looking like downtown Stalingrad in December 1942 then I am done with it.

Edit -

So, on completion of the installation of the game to 110491 in two phases, no faulty assets and no missing dependencies. However, on starting to import routes and DLC items from the Content store I chose LMS Duchess and it has failed. View Error reveals "Error: - Failed to download precached data for package 'tdd035f' at version "12345" for platform 'standard-3'" - So, with a clean installation how is that possible? There should be no pre-existing LMS Duchess installation since there were no Trainz related files of folders left on the drive.

Second item to install from the Content store, LMS Coronation. View error reveals "Error: - Failed to download precached data for package 'tdd054f' at version "10441" for platform 'standard-3'".

Third item to install from the Content Store, Settle & Carlisle. No errors.

Fourth item to install from the Content Store, ECML Kings Cross - Edinburgh 1976. No errors.

Fifth Item to install from the Content store, ECML Edinburgh - Dundee. (Finally) No errors.

So, finally progressing, though with some questions about LMS Duchess and LMS Coronation Scot. However, it should not have been this tough a journey.
I still have many hours of work ahead to import and install personal content, then all the stuff to seek from the DLS.
After that is done, I wonder how much content I was using prior to Thursday will still be usable.

Edit II -

48 hours on and roughly halfway through importing personal routes, payware commissions and downloading from the DLS. Paulhobbs Stanier 8F cab on importing appears okay.
I have a list of several assets which no longer appear to be on the DLS, so I will be "mining" my TS12 installation to retrieve them if I can.

In the past I have had numerous problems. In this large update I expected orange/red boxes everywhere. I updates to the latest PLUS and 105100 of plain Trainz19. Both worked, including the many updates to fix Beta errors in Plus.

I can only attribute this to always checking for Obsolete assets on MY database. Every day, I now check for obsolete assets ON MY database that are not marked as commercial items. That was one of the first things I did in both updates Before starting the simulator. There were a few and lots of messed up assets requiring attention. Did a short rebuild and began removing assets that had issues and were non-commercial. Maybe 25 of those. Another short rebuild and started both copies of the simulator with NO ERRORS. Given my past history I was surprised.

In my case, and maybe yours, delete ALL obsolete assets that are not Payware, builtin, etc. You can't use then anyhow and they may cause a bug in the database manager to be occur.

Ignore the View Error.

The asset has installed fine.

This error is due to a difference between what the server thinks it has versus what it has and it's a program reference and has nothing to do with the asset. It's on the To-be-fixed-someday list. We had asked about this sometime ago and Tony mentioned this.

I updated my clean Plus+ install to SP2 without any problems; - however I do think that a major factor for success was that I had no DLS legacy or third party payware or freeware assets or routes installed before I started. The new Content Store made things a lot easier as well when it came to downloading/upgrading the Uk DLC I only wanted to have in this install. I seem to have got away with that Ok since I didn't end up with any 'payware not active' tags on anything.

My old tinware 105096 install is going to stay as it is though because I'm picking that all the legacy stuff I have there would just get trashed. I did wonder how forum members like Frank (borderreiver) were going to get on with updating though. With his heavily modified routes and a considerable amount of third party custom payware it was a bit like pinning a 'kick me' notice onto his back. I certainly have a good deal of sympathy for anyone who is having problems with SP2.

When I have "a situation", such as I have been going through over the past 48 hours with the upgrade to SP2, the last thing I need is to have to figure out if an error is in fact an error or if it is fact not an error.

Just click Cancel , it clears the update from the list which has 99.9% of the time actually installed. It will no longer be listed as out of date new version available in Manage Content

SP2 loaded fine, even though Database repaired 3 times taking over 30 minutes each.
Route I have been working on for over two years looks fine. Running to see if anything missing. Will take a while.
THANKS for bringing back the Rank Stars and Points.
One dislike is on Routes Menu thumbnails appear even though a route is Disabled. Like to get unused ones out of the way.
Finally is there a single location that list all SP2 fixes and changes?

Thanks guys for all your hard work.

My route has the following problem. EIT manager rule in surveyor will not list the towers. You have to do a delete missing assets for it to see the towers. Go from surveyor to driver, not all the drivers are loaded they don't show in the driver list. Click on the consist and the driver is there but none of his driver commands are shown. Assign a driver to that consist and the driver commands appear. All this is random so not repeated the same each time.

TRS19 update performed 18.12.20 – from 105096 via 110322 to 110491. Everything appeared to be OK.

I then went into TRS 19 to work on one of my routes as per following system:-

  1. Start Trainz - 110491
  2. Select Driver/Surveyor
  3. Select Route
  4. View Sessions
  5. Select “Default”
  6. Select “Edit Session”
  7. Carry out intended work
  8. Select System Menu
  9. Select “Save” (“overwrite existing route and overwrite existing session?”)
  10. Tick Box (revolving blue circle for approx. 10-15 secs)
  11. Select System Menu
  12. Select Exit Surveyor (sub menu appears - “Do you wish to save changes before closing Surveyor?” Select “save” – (“overwrite existing route and existing session?”) – tick box --to save).

At which point, the screen went to default and the blue circle started to revolve and continued revolving for something between 5 and 10 minutes! Then the screen went into a dimmed-out version of the last scene on my route and a black/white print box appeared with the message,
“ Surveyor has failed to save the route/session changes. Please ensure there is adequate disk space and try again. OK?” It was around 11.30 p.m. so closed down and went to bed

I have today (21.12.20) gone through the same procedures with the same route. Identical procedure and result up to and including Item 12, EXCEPT blue circle revolved for about 30 secs, then went to the expected item 2 screen at which point I exited the game as per my normal procedure. What! How? Why?????????

My next test was to follow the same procedures with another WIP route. The result was a repeat of my first experience and the black box with the “Surveyor has failed to save……………..” message.

I should add that in all tests so far, the changes that I’ve made to the routes in Surveyor have in fact been saved on the route/session file and are visible when next logging in. It seems that it is just the procedure for “exiting from surveyor” that throws up the nonsense messages.

However, there are other issues. In September 2019, to rationalise disc space, I moved the bulk of the TRS 19 files from C: H Drive to my SSD D: Drive and finished up with the following arrangement:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\N3VGames\trs19\userdata-redirect.map

D:\TRS19_Userdata Folder 72.4 GB

D:\TRS19_Program Files 15.0 GB

This arrangement has worked well for over 12 months.

I now find
that the underlined portion of the directory and map file shown above for C: Drive has been completely erased and that the TRS19 Userdata folder has increased its size from 72.4 to 156 GB!

OK, I must have added a few bytes in the last 12 months but I’ve not doubled it, so am guessing that somethings being duplicated. Even then, I still have 196GB free disc space on D:\ so why the message about “ensuring I have sufficient disc space and try again?”

I’m not naïve enough to discount the possibility, even the likelihood, that my ineptitude has had a hand in this screw-up but aren’t upgrades supposed to straightforward and relatively simple to apply. Does anybody have any suggestions - preferably words of one syllable?

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Chapter 2. The Wonders of Content Manager

At present about 10% of the "ALL CONTENT" shows up as being "Built in" or "Installed from DLS"

About 15% is listed as Unknown Location - Obsolete; Unknown Location; Available for download - Obsolete; available for download - newer versions available.

The remaining 75% is listed as available for download

Content Store Updates are all error messages

Happy Christmas

Content store version error messages, click cancel, as 99.9% it's a false message, updates will have been installed and the update option clears.

Getting weary of repeating the same thing over and over again.

This is the eight time I've posted this.

Hi,
I don't know what to do next and have a headache.

I've updateted from Build 106618 to 110491 and payware and most old DLC-routes working well.
But my own big route and session starting up and than it freezes. Help desk is also not a real help. Everything revolves around Tane. I cannot edit or drive, i only can break it off only via task-manager.

I`ve lots of errors in Built-in assets some errors in pguy's content.
Any idea?
