Trainz Update Announcement (SP5)

I'm still running the DBR now.

There is a track bug that first occurred in T:ANE and N3V and I spent ages looking for it. The workaround I found is to go into Content Manager, highlight the tracks you have installed, open for edit and then submit them again. This doesn't work for built-in or DLC of course.

If this is the same bug, then I hate to say it but this is good news because now the Devs can stomp it once and for all, maybe.

Same here. I opened up the Client logs and watched the progress. This bug, and yes it's a bug, has been with us since at least three service packs ago. The first time this occurred, it caught me out and I ended up corrupting my database and that took me two days to straighten out. Now, check for the DBR process even though the progress bar doesn't show.
Click Start Trainz on the launcher and the progress box appears. I still don't think that is correct though.

It's definitely not correct. That's why I opened up the Client Logs.
Click on Developer.
Click on Clear Client Logs.
Click on Show Client Logs.

This brings up a window that shows the progress of the repair and looks similar to the window, when expanded from the progress bar when this works as it's supposed to.

I don't know if this was said already or not but in SP5 you can't place trackside objects down on tracks.
I've tried this in both classic and s2.0.

I still use SP1 for my content devs so I'm not affected but I do test my content out in newer versions to make sure they still work as intended.

Cheers

It looks like that bug is affecting not a few users. It's been mentioned several times in this thread and has been bug-reported. Not sure if I am going to update to SP5 yet until it's patched, as I have some older routes I am working on and that would be a roadblock.

Looks like there is track that no longer works properly on this latest update. JR Drk Grey Dirty kuid2:45324:38024:5 the issue is trains and rolling stock cannot attach

The other effect is using turnout frogs like cr45 (which I believe this is a reskin of Norfolksouthern37's turnout frogs) right and left kuid:348207:100762, kuid:348207:100761, and Norfolksouthern37's turnout frogs kuid2:45324:26001:2 and kuid2:45324:26002:2

This will be my argument for bringing Bulk Asset Update/Replace to S20 in the standalone versions of Trainz22. While it is still in there in S10 (aka Surveyor Classic), I 99.9999E% use only S20 for all edits and work. A useful tool that should not be behind a paywall in my humble opinion.

I just installed the new SP5 patch onto my copy of TRS22 Platinum edition and I too have noticed this new "feature" where trackside objects can no longer be placed down. I've also noticed that the Preview Asset box has been reset back to how it was before the SP4 update as well as the Surveyor preview box being merged with the preview asset box now. I wonder what else there is to find in this new update.

Try my workaround.
Close Trainz.
Go into Content Manager.
Search for your tracks using category track.
Open up all your track for editing:
Select all - click on one and press CTRL+A
Right-click and choose Open for editing.

Submit all DLS track
Rever to original all built-in and DLC track.

*Insert Picard facepalm* Now it appears to be working again. I guess deleting the track and then redownloading it corrected whatever was wrong. At nearly 50 I'm getting too old for this LOL. Seriously though JC I appreciate the idea. It is funny you mentioned that technique, because I actually tried that first before nuking the track and redownloading. Sadly it never corrected itself which in theory should have. I've used that same thing before and it fixed a lot of things that broke for one reason or another. Gotta love it when games derp.

Thanks John, sounds a lot more simple than bulk replace. I have not seen this bug.

BTW, there is at least one Tree made in Plant Factory on the Coal Country HDT. It is made by Jankvis and has a trainz build of 5.6. Open it up is Asset Preview and zoom in. Absolutely amazing detail and just 3898 triangles. The future is bright for Trainz.

Nah, you're still young! Trainz is very tweaky, I mean geeky.

I think this issue has something to do with caching. By reinstalling the track, it updated the cache.

I'm glad it's working for you.

I for one do not have this problem.....
Have a few regular routes that i am using..... and the ones I have tested are all working fine.

Even tried one that I have not used for a month and it works without a problem.

So NOT everybody is having problems.

To the users who are having problems......have you tried to JUST MOVE something and then save....and see if that solves your problem.??

Where is the update coming from? Is it in a datacenter on AWS configuration? I ask because it has been slow.
Thank you.

TRS2022 PE

SP5 install went without a hitch here, not come across any probs yet. I'm not happy about the preview screen background reverting back to white, I preferred the previous black background.

Still no way to delete greyed out obsolete packaged/payware assets as far as I can see, I've accumulated several hundred over the years, all doing nothing except taking up valuable disk space!

Rob.

Hi

Do any of you build maps? Build railroad tracks and connect a railroad signal (traffic light) to them. I can't do it (and I'm not alone).
what about it?

Thanks for this John, worked like a charm on my end.
