Hello Everyone,

We have a small update to address some of the issues with trackside assets as well as the cars on the road. There has been validation changes in the recent builds. Validation errors which were, in specific cases, sometimes hidden from output, should now show reliably for those cases. Please report any sudden faulty assets via the bug report https://n3vgames.typeform.com/to/xRdryu to be investigated.

Change log (127058 to 127161)
  • Fix to trackside assets height after track adjustment
  • Fix to cars having wrong orientation on road
  • Fix to cars not disappearing when they reach road end
  • Fix to Scrapbook paste HD to non HD texture overwrite
  • Fix to Scrapbook paste forming ridges when pasted over baseboard edges
  • Fix to Undo of HD edit low-res tile flagged as promoted
New Feature: Dispatch Manager

Where to find it:
Dispatch Manager can be located via Tools menu or opened via “Show Dispatch Manager” found under Driver properties, Dispatch Status

What you can do with it:
  • Easy way to monitor all dispatch tasks and identify any issues
  • List all Drivers and their dispatch status
  • List all the industries and dispatch status
  • List all Trains and the list can be broken up into rolling stock and powered trains, or both
  • Find rolling stock for a product
  • Find and claim a task to drive as the player

New Option: Claiming a Task (TLR)
  • Claiming a task will behave differently depending on whether it’s an active task or not.
  • If an active task, the current driver commands will be cleared, and the train will be brought to a stop. The train control mode will be switched to either DCC or Cab control, depending on the session/player default
  • Tasks can be claimed via Dispatch Manager or via Driver Details, under Dispatch Status

In addition to the Dispatch Manager, there is a new vehicle queue editor with reworked UI, and a new Activity Journal.

Update: New Vehicle Queues Editor
  • A new UI can now be found for vehicles. This replaces the old script and will resemble the interface used for Industry queues
  • Accessed by CTRL + Right click on rolling stock in Driver or Edit Details in Surveyor
  • Can add commodities directly
  • New copy and paste feature to copy commodities to other rolling stock

Activity Journal Script API
  • A more compressive logging system in order to track activity with dispatch and AI driving behaviour

How to try TLR Phase 2:
  1. Install the latest Trainz Plus Beta update (127058)
  2. Install "Coal Country (HDT)" (simc:1663)
  3. Drive "<kuid:661281:110131> Coal Country TLR Session"
  4. Feel free to watch the drivers carry out tasks or claim a task for yourself to perform

Key Features:
  • Dispatch Manager
  • New Vehicle Queue Editor
  • Activity Journal Script API
  • Access to Coal Country HDT
  • New Build version 5.6

REMINDER:
** Please ensure you have a backup of your local data folder before using it with Trainz Plus Beta **

INSTALLING & PATCHING:

For Trainz Plus Beta via the Trainz Plus Beta Stream
Trainz Store Only:

PC: Requires Trainz Plus 127058 (PC). This is a small patch 24 MiB for build 127161

Mac: There is no Mac update at this time

Please report any bugs using this link: https://n3vgames.typeform.com/to/xRdryu

Change log (126280 to 127058)
  • Dispatch Manager (new)
  • Living Railroad Dispatch Disable/Enable option under Session Options (removed)
  • Claim Task option (new)
  • Vehicle Queues Editor (new)
  • Activity Journal Script API (new)
  • DirectX12 Beta option (returned)
  • Validation change - validation errors were in specific cases, sometimes hidden from the output, and should now be shown reliably in those cases
  • New Build 5.6
  • Misc Bug fixes

Known Issues:
  • Some users may have assets reported as faulty - validation errors were in specific cases hidden from output, and now should be reliably shown.
  • This build lacks precache shaders. Stuttering and small freezes during first loads of routes is to be expected as well as longer initial load times. 'Compiling Shaders' can be seen top of the screen during initial runs and slow performance is to be expected during this process.
  • Assertion Errors are enabled for this build. Trainz will pause until Assertion Errors are closed. Users can select Continue and Ignore Errors. (Reporting when these occur with bugs will help with troubleshooting)
  • Distant objects may be rendered at off-angles, and may be slow to render
  • Routes may load with incorrect height for trackside assets
  • Trains may appear to vibrate horizontally at some locations
  • TurfFX is not supported under DirectX12
  • DirectX12 has known issues with AMD Graphic Cards.
  • DirectX12 may lead to black flickering and bright spots
  • DirectX12 may lead to loading & unloading stalls
  • Content Packages Palette may report Main Menu Route & KSC 2 as faulty due to content changes

It took just seconds to download and install. The install DBR (if there was one) was completed just as quickly. Now testing.

Add to "Known Issues":

SpeedTrees show as 2D objects (obvious in plan view) and flicker as the angle of view changes.

How do I get these files?
  1. Install "Coal Country (HDT)" (simc:1663)
  2. Drive "<kuid:661281:110131> Coal Country TLR Session"

Which Content Store?
The one on the Trainz Launch Screen.

If the search box does not appear then maximize the window.

TY for the fast update Laurence, it installed real quick

-Missing spline (white dash) is back but I tried to use it in Bulk Asset replace
to replace for a track of my choosing and I failed.

-CM viewer back ground is back to pure white after a brief period of pure black
would still be better if we could adjust the back ground color

-DirectX 12 option is back, but reading no turfX already makes it not the choice for me.
How much will it hurt Trainz if we just skip Directx12?

-Dispatch manager seems to work ok
-Living Railroad Dispatch Disable/Enable option under Session Options (removed)
wasn't that bad of a place and I dont mind more than 1 place to change options
-Claim Task option (new) works
I still miss for session builders: in Edit Session, Driver Setup to preset
I like to preset a few trains with drivercommands under AI (the old way)
then a few trains running under TLR (only goods sofar)

-Activity Journal Script API (new) seems to work , but checking the coal country logs
you will see which n3v personnel (Paul, Joe, Pwr) have tried it.
Think it needs a good cleaning options, I dont want to share a session and people can see
every little experiment I ever did.

-Validation change, what has changed exactly ??
-New build 5.6 We go very fast on this, please limit it to when we have actual new save format or terrain changes

-Misc bug fixes?? list?

TY for the quick fix making Coal Country free for the Plus users

Waiting forever for: pointlights, raytracing, passenger sceduling, new sound system, interface design
animated passengers that are not dark at night, procedural catenary, rain on cab windows
async search limit to 10k. ground texture limit to 24(TransDem). CDP limit larger or just use zip,
user friendly restore backups, use previous version (for unknows), replace unknown by.... etc.
keep dreaming GM, Yes I will !

I'm experimenting with an old layout, and I'm replacing an old Auran coal mine with the MIN tracks. However, the Dispatch Manager reports "no loco available to deliver coal" - I have 4 similar consists (one manually controlled) and the coal load show "awaiting pickup for coal".
Any suggestions on how to get the consist/loco identified?

Colin

This is to prevent uploading of beta routes to the DLS. When this wasn't done, this became an issue due to differences in file formats, etc. When this Trainz version is finally released, the build-version may be different or the same. At this point, no one knows.

The ground-texture limit to 16 colors per baseboard is a hardware limit and not a software limit we found out not long ago. This hard limit is also found in other development packages such as the new Unreal game engine. The high-resolution terrain eats up a lot of video memory, system memory and CPU throughput, thus limiting the textures to a smaller pallet of 16 per baseboard. This will remain for quite some time until we have even more RAM available for our GPUs and more powerful computers.

Hi all,
I’ve been experimenting with older routes, one thing I’ve noticed is that editing a route with the automatic dispatcher, then driving the route doesn’t seem to reset the dispatcher and consists available.
Saving the session, exit, reload restarts everything and solves a number of my problems with consist allocation like “no consist available to deliver X” and “no source of “Y”

I expect something like that would be the case because by saving the session, this brings the session up to the new version and makes some internal changes that the older version doesn't have. I do this anyway whenever we've updated to a new Trainz build.

Thanks, I’ve been editing session in stages and saving each mod, but it’s almost as if the complete reload is needed to rest the dispatcher. Clearing the cached routes doesn’t seem to rese the same way.
Hopefully this is just a beta feature!

You have to save and reload especially when adjusting Driver Setup.

Thank you for all your feedback, as we have a new Trainz Plus Beta available, this thread is now locked.

Please post comments on the new thread.
