Shane whose opinions did I attack? I called Bob out, and 1 other due to an abusive pm I got. Considering the amount of posters, that use this forum you cannot say I attack peoples opinions, That's way to general. Go and read a reasonable amount of the thread, not just one or 2 posts. Yesterday alone saw Bob shoot down signalman, djt and myself. I am sorry but that kind of crap has got to stop.

I am aware of that, but the way I do things is to sort one problem out at a time (and yes, I have read the whole thread).

Shane

I have gotten much imformation out of reading this thread, as if I was shopping for a Cadillac, I would also want to know all about the other competitors cars out there, like the Nissan-Juke and the teeny Smart cars.

Why get all defensive and offensive when talking about the competition ?

I believe the reason why people are so defensive is because they feel that talking about the competition may drive people away from Trainz and towards the competition.

Shane

An informed mind, is better than a closed mind, where people actually prefer total censorship of a competitors product.

If all the talk here was positive, about the product, we might actually learn something, instead of immediately shooting it down at first site, like clay pigeon target practice.

I actually like to learn about the competitors product(s) ... Why intentionally lock the thread, or personally set out to get it locked ?

Nathan, I have received 31 pm's all more or less abusive, since the first initial post. I have personally gone after only 2 of those, and one is Bob. I have not thrown insults at anyone else. Get your facts right before you pull on your drama skirt.

To see just how long people can be nice ... on the Forum, and actually post positive information about a product ... how long can everyone be nice ?

Well when grown men can't discuss a topic on a forum that is not just for Trainz, actually has a sub section for world Trainz etc on main forum page, it just goes to show the level of maturity that some men have attained in life. The trash talk in some of the PM's should be reported and followed to the users IP. For those who have never engaged with me in the past 13 months, look at all my other posts across a multitude of topics, no flames anywhere or grievances. But this thread, this is a whole new ball game. Idiots getting personal over a piece of software that they play with, not drive. (Except for Bob - he has a throttle device - Choo Choo! )

I may have started the thread but I sure as hell did not start the abuse!

An interesting thread in as much it makes light reading. Nearly as interesting as some of the replies I got when I first started making Maritime Routes and content for Trainz many years ago.

Maybe time to detour the thread into Maritime Trainz, Marz Trainz, Canal Trainz, Tram Trainz, all of which have been made for Trainz. (some of the routes and content made by by myself), and other peripheral interests that Trainz can be used for, and no doubt the same for other simulators. A pity Trainz didn't expand into other fields of interest. It's what people make that counts and how the various functions are used that helps to makes this simulator and no doubt other ones including rail.

I don't think they're working on a new game engine either, as it would obsolete every single piece of content currently existing.

Like I said in an earlier post if it doesn’t get a new rendering/game engine and move into the 21st century it will remain the same stagnate archaic game that we’ve had for the last ten years +.

Two years ago in this forum a rep from N3V Games actually stated that they were satisfied with the rendering/game engine they were using so I wouldn’t hold my breath for something new. As we’ve already seen time and time again choosing backward compatibility over moving on with the rest of gaming world just leads to the program dying a slow death.

I purchased a Raildriver, a week or two after I got Trainz. My friends thought I was crazy spending $200 for a gizmo to run a train, but from the day I got it, I love it.

For North American locomotives the RailDriver is useless because it uses potentiometers. There’s no way to get positive 1-8 notch throttle settings or the notches on the automatic to make realistic reductions.

Oh dear, another Trainzer who is upset because they believe the game engine is obselete. Yet me tell you now, a new game engine is not going to happen. If it does, it will be a totally new sim, and N3V will continue supporting Trainz. Can you imagine if Auran introduced TS14 or whatever, with a new game engine, which totally obseleted everything currently existing. They would be an uproar, and most of the community would quit Trainz for MSTS or RailWorks. It took 10 years to build up all of the 100000+ assets for Trainz, and it would take a lot longer to build up new ones. It's not going to happen. Plus, the current game engine isn't 'archaic', it's a piece of sheer genius. Look all the wonderful routes out like JR's Reading & Northern, Tume's Avery to Drexel, Philskene's Port Ogden & Northern, Nathanmallard's Cramitinn 2, Maxwerks' 8th Avenue Industrial, and many, many more.

Something must be wrong with your setup. I would suggest re-calibrating Raildriver, as I can easily move a notch at a time with mine in all my diesels.

Just starting to run Reading and Northern now, it is amazing and I am getting 80+ FPS on my inexpensive rig.

Hi All
Just a few clarifications here.

First, we are constantly developing things for Trainz. Be it Trainz Mobile, or Trainz for PC, etc. Actually, development generally overlaps, since both are essentially Trainz. My statement that we were not developing at this time, due to the Christmas/New Year break was literally just that. Our team was on break for 2 weeks, which meant that development stopped. This statement did not mean anything more than this, as we have been working on Trainz all year. Again, not specifically PC or Mobile, as they often overlap.

We did focus more on mobile for some time, and we may do so again at times to continue developing these editions. However that doesn't mean we've stopped or postponed non 'mobile' editions...

Regards

a piece of sheer genius
a piece of dark genius. The "shiny day" darkness in trainz is the most salient compared to any other simuator (including flight- and track-).

Bob you calibrate all you want it still will not give you a positive throttle position or brake pipe reduction, it’s been an issue that has been brought many times for years now.

RailDriver is better suited for European equipment that use a rheostat type throttle control.

I can move mine up a notch at a time, and my name ain't even Bob.
I'm on holidays at the moment so I don't have it on me
