Trackside Observer

I have always found the 4 (leap off train) to be great for train spotting. I can then "scoot around" a route if I want to ....... say to get ahead of the train and watch it going over a bridge etc.). I also use the 2 (leap back on). Also useful for me is the ability to change trains. Often I will be riding a train and leap off to catch a train going someplace else. At one point I can leap off straight into a pub............... but haven't managed to get it to serve real beer yet!

Just some thoughts!

Red Lantern Pub

There Ya' go...that "Train Watcher" asset downloads great...and the low angle cab view is really cool...If it had a signalmans red lantern held out at arms length, and a dirty yardworkers clothes, and a striped engineers hat, that it would be even better looking. I think mines gonna get arrested for trespassing on RR tracks soon !

I also downloaded the "Walkers" animated pedestrians...lol...they are hillariously funny looking in animation and are hound dawg ugly, but they have no cab view. I have a bunch of them walking down the center of the NEC mainline at present...not a safe practice at all !
Workin on your RR worker with a lantern, even made a lantern by itself to set at ground or on another object. Can even send it along with your train to what everything else go by! Will be ready in a short! Even changed to first character abit to look better. But I thionk to change the names to something with "cam" in the title, got any suggestions? The beer thing I got to work on alittle yet!

"Red Lantern Pub"

There is a "Red Lantern Tavern Pub" right near the CSX rail line in Sharron Hill PA. I will see if I can post a photo...just for fun:cool:

Suggestions for a name: "Driveable Railfan Cam", or "Driveable Signalman/Railyard Worker Cam"

Think there one in Alaska too if I remember right. As for the name, these are really not meant to be driven, but is a good idea to group as first name basis, maybe "movable"?

Nobody seems to have mentioned the three camera views from -Basti- which are on the DLS. They are kind turntable and can be located anywhere. Clicking on one and selecting view 1 you get a view from that point that can be rotated, panned and zoomed. In surveyor they show up as green squares but are invisible in Driver so you need to put a scenic item there so you know where to click. I find them very useful and have used them for platform, signalbox and looking down from the top of a building views.

DLS Arrrgh !

I found 5 camera items under -Basti-...Which is better...the descriptions of assets on DLS are so vague and lacking, and sometimes don't make much sence at all...Do I need all 5 to get it to work ?

Why does DLS have multiple items that are seemingly redundant duplicates ?

Cameras

I tested them both and the views look great from both cameras !
I was thinking of altering the striped clothes and hat (w/no bill) color, for another color, like a dirty oilstained denim jacket and hat, in "Edit in Explorer", as presently he sort of looks like a rouge escaped convict that has also aquired a (Kelly Green color) RR lantern.

There is a "signalman w/lantern" on DLS that has rugged US RR worker type clothes, but has no camera.

Do I have your permission to alter the striped shirt & hat to oilstained denim, and green lantern bodycolor to a rusty weathered gray/black color, in Edit In Explorer", and to post screenshots of these alterations of your signalman & lantern camera's in the Forum ?

Be my guest with color test, you can send the texture to me and I will change to mesh here too! I thought the hat looked funny for some reason, now I know what! I'll fix the brim!

In case this hasn't been said already, there's a person downloadable somewhere, and he has a cabview. Stick him on the invisible track, set the weather to 'stormy' and off you go!

Signal Man with Lantern

Yours is getting better...but the signal man On DLS looks more rugged.
Screen_002-4.jpg

My attempt at changing the lantern color and clothes, but the face has to be lightened also, as I altered the skin tone.

Neither of these have a very bright lantern. Perhaps a much brighter (bright as a trackside signal) corona

Corona

Show me where to find the corona you talkin about and I'll add it. I see the cap has to fixed some more still too!
Ya know, I could stack several coronas in a line out from the lens. It may then look like one light stretching out.

I think one item is an obsoleted interior. There are three cameras plus the interior view. I tend to use the big one as the base is larger and easier to click on. I haven't really tried the other two so don't know if they have any particular advantages under certain circumstances.

Sorry for the hi-jacking..."We now return you to your regularly schedualed program"..

You can lay BNSF Invisatrack, and place any loco on the invisatrack ... and by adding the line: -freeintcam in your Trainzoptions file you can roam about outside the cab and railfan your Trainz.

Hello Kent,

Haven't seen you lately, but was wondering if you could create (or update) your AC MWM Train Watcher to be compatible with TS2010?

Thanks
