Toronto Lakeshore West

Fabulous route Neil, thanks for doing something from Toronto for all of us, I cannot see the Eaton Centre though, I will have to put my own in.....:hehe:

My pleasure Isaac,

I subscribed to your other thread. :) These coaches sound like great news in a very underrepresented part of trains (Canadian Passenger Rolling Stock). I will post my compliments, constructive criticism and support for you in that thread. :)

The final versions would look great in the TLW. :D

Those look great! I'm off to get them now (seems the only way around the DLS troubles for me is to go to the download page of every specific item and download the .cdp - am I the only one who has to do this to get things? @@). Anyhow, I wanted to ask you Transportfan...did you ever finish that Canadian crossbuck, petro canada gas station reskin and the petro canada refinery reskin? :) I'm sure these would look great in this route!

I look forward to using these billboards in my route! :D

Keep up the great work!

I've just uploaded the crossbuck (and a few other signs), so they should be available soon. Will get around to the tanks soon. As for the gas station, the nightmode is all wonky.

PS. Has anyone tried to download the Tour scenario? It starts downloading, then stops when it tries uploading the dependancies, although the CMP doesn't actually freeze.

Hello, bop here - new to all this - have TRS2006. Quickly learning how its all working. CONGRATS Neil - very nice job on Lakeshore West. I ride the GO Train from Pickering to Aldershot often so having fun with this layout!

I'm also having difficulty with downloading of the tour file (95512:103202). I have two ttc drivers active in the base scenario and many drivers waiting for trains to operate (so I added my own GO Train and it runs fine).

Thanks again for job well done.

I don't have 2006, so I can't really say why it wouldn't be working. Just a couple of questions -

1 - Does it download properly? Or give errors?
2 - When you load it in driver, what happens? Errors? It should start just west of Oakville in a Via cab.

Perhaps anyone who has run this in 06 may have some insight.

Just one suggestion, though - were all the dependencies downloaded from the dls? I'm hearing there's problems with the dls right now, so perhaps some of the necessary locos and cars weren't downloaded properly, or at all, if they were not on your computer already.

Just a thought.

Hey Bop

Also forgot to mention - did you download the signal pack from the external link? They don't seem to download properly from the dls.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, let me know, and I'll forward the download link for the signals.

Yo homeboy.

You'll find some skyscrapers from Toronto on DLS which I did some time ago. Hope you'll find them usefull.

Looking forward to that Transportfan! Personally, I'd still love to have a Petro Canada gas station even if the nightmode was wacky, but it's all up to you. Either way, those crossbucks will get a lot of use I assure you!

1 - Does it download properly? Or give errors? Download stalls (its only 48.07kb). I can download other assets, but this file just won't download (I had the same problem earlier with the searchlight signal so I removed it from the download list and then download automatically continued - then I installed the searchlight from the external download you mentioned).

2 - When you load it in driver, what happens? Errors? It should start just west of Oakville in a Via cab. When I start in driver I only have the Base Scenario which puts you on the Witt streetcar. There are some program errors but you can continue past these. I went to surveyor and added GO and VIA trains.

Perhaps anyone who has run this in 06 may have some insight.

No, not all downloaded - some were faulty and others were unknown.
Just a thought.

Neil, see my notes above.

Thanks, bop

Check your PM's.

One thing we've found is that those overhead signals have caused a bunch of havoc on the dls (not the creator's fault) - it just seems to happen. What we've found is that downloading these signals from this pack first:

http://www.virtual-motive-division.com/tpr/NS_37/cdp/VMD_Searchlight_Set_v1.cdp

and then downloading the route, that solved many problems.

Unfortunately, it seems that the dls is still being a little wonky, so I can't really say if this will solve the problem.

Let me know how things go.

thanks

Neil - they're working great. I made a rookie error and forgot to 'commit' the cdp file. Takes a while to learn how content manager works! My 8 year old son is now filling the layout with Go Trains. About your tour file - snce its small can it be emailed and then I import it like I did with the above searchlight file?

thanks, bop

Glad that's working now.

If you want to send me a private message, with your email address, I'll try to send you the tour.

Neil - thanks for the file. No install problems in TRS2006. Still getting errors during startup of file but otherwise worked great. :)

Ok, will there be a "Lakeshore East"? And why wasn't Aldershot-Hamilton included on "Lakeshore West"?

Well, I had to set some boundaries (a place to start and finish), and the Toronto to Oakville section seemed manageable, as that's the section that I'm most familiar with.

It took about 3-4 months of solid work to do that section, so going further is quite an undertaking. I'm not saying that expansion won't happen in the future, but I'm pretty burnt out on building an accurate prototypical line, so for the next while, that's about as far as I'm going.

Hope you all understand.

Compudoc is apparantly releasing the entire GO system (eight lines), so once that is released, hopefully that will satisty your requests.

Hope you enjoy the route.

Hello neil, firstly, this is a brilliant route to drive on in TRS2006, however, I didn't know there were separate signals for this layout. Of the 832 assets, when I downloaded it, I had about 30 missing items. I went thru TARL, to see what was missing and NONE of the kuid numbers showed up, so I deleted them all.....It hasn't made a scrap of difference to the route that I can see, I trimmed back a bit on your track-side foliage splines a little...:hehe: to improve the FPS, but never noticed until last night that there aren't any signals, JUST the gantrys....Just goes to show how flaming observant I am...:hehe:
I will use your link to obtain the necessary accessories, thank you for that.
