Timetable ???

One of the often complained about "missing features" of Trainz is a timetable function. The closest you can get is the Time Check Rule and the Wait Rule, but neither will give you any real semblance of a timetable.

Thanks for the reply,,,,, Yes you are right , Trainz have been going long enough for there to have been one by now, maybe they will read this and do something.
I say that as a pig flies over my house.

Hi

If this is for AI trains then have you looked at pguy's rule "Stops and TimeTables Manager (Tane SP4 and later)" and its associated driver commands "SetMCTimeTable (Tane SP4 and later)" and "AutoDriveWithMCTimeTable (Tane SP4 and later)" which are used in conjunction with Mission Codes and Enhanced Interlocking Towers.

This allows you to set up a full series of stops on a route with doors opening on the correct side for each station and with arrival and departure times for each station. Once set up it only requires two driver commands and the train will drive the full route with stops at all the stations that you have specified. It even has a learning function that you can use to fill in all the times automatically.

The difficulty with a question such as this is what is meant by a timetable function? Your idea of this may well be different to mine for example. Do you want it for AI trains, player driven trains or both? This is a complicated subject so such a question needs to be more specific to narrow down what you are looking for.

Perhaps a "fillable" page that looks like a timetable for a railroad passenger operation.

Another "fillable" timetable that looks like the schedules for freight trains.

Both operate from a common database sharing most entries but requiring some different relevant entries for freight and passenger services.

As mentioned you can setup a schedule with driver command strings Using Time-Check. It works, but the readable result come close to computer "gibberish".

Once you have N3V providing the base timetable you can branch out to seeing how much you can squeeze into 8 hours of running. Can you add an extra train on route-X? Or add in a weather factor (might encourage N3V to spruce up the WX.)

With a proper time-table you can now include all of the actual factors that govern a railroad and see a plausible result. Gee, just like the real thing.

Yes, you can use the Time-Check system mentioned above but the setup is complex and the result does not look like a timetable.
