I had just finished a can of Pringles chips when I thought, "If I cut part of the top off, turn the can over, paint the can black, and glue some skewers to it, I'll have a storage tank!"

It does look a bit cheap, but it's quick and easy. (you get to eat a lot of chips as well):p

Please explain the relation between your topic and real life trains. I don't see it (yet).

Or are you just starting a topic, hoping it will turn into another popcorn discussion?

I took 2 ball park hot dergs', and put them in the toaster over, and took the cooked chicken skin that my GF peeled offa' her chicken ... and placed it in top of my hot dergs' ... and broiled it till the chicken skin was crispity crunchity, golden brown (not quite burnt) ... YUM ! How I'll get this into Trainz ... IDK ... It might go good with Pringles ?

I know what you're talking about, but to be honest if I wanted a tank on my layout I would just buy one or build a kit.
Re moderation, I saw that thread, and I see no "fights" or "flame wars", and if they are any disputes it is usually because someone is being a gimme-pig or when someone posts something juvenile or off-topic, such as a Thomas the Tank Engine screenshot in a real-life screenshots thread. We have every right to express our personal opinion whether it is controversial or not, and I absolutely disagree with the type of moderation you wanted. Fights are not always a bad thing, sometimes the perpetrator learns something. :)

What I meant was, if you want a cheap tank for a model train layout, (a real one, not a virtual one)
Just use cheaper parts, such as cans and Pringles chip containers.

I also just completed a a giant rusty storage tank made out of a quick oats container.

And about the "no fights" topic, that's closed. So it doesn't need to be brought up again.

I meant a tank for a model train layout. I have seen an article in Model Railroader about a guy that uses empty tape rolls to make tanks, so I thought I'd try it.
After I successfully built a tank out of tape rolls, I decided to use an old Pringles can for a larger project. After cutting part of the top off, I painted it black, glued some skewers to it, added rust, (a mix of brown and red paint painted on, and then wiped off with paper towels to spread the paint)
and then glued on some "no trespassing" signs from a plastic model kit. It looks nice.

Also, after that, I found an old quick oats container and did basicly the same thing, although I used grey paint instead of black.

LOL, but not what I meant.

You could just say all that in one post...
I see you are the spammer responsible for "poo" and "evilangrypanel". Can you explain your motives for this?

1: I was new to the game
2: I was younger
3: Those were pre-2008
4: I thought it was funny back then
5: No one seemed to mind
6: I never was good at creating content
7: I thought those were wiped out with UTC
8: I'm older now and don't intend to do it again

That's why that happened. Easily explainable.
(I also used those in hillarious layouts with deep death-pits [UTC ONLY {PERSONAL USE ONLY}])

Also, this topic isn't spam, although it could be if I keep getting off topic replies.
This topic is about cheap ways to make storage tanks for model railroads, not fighting about something weird I did more than 6 years ago.

Thread closed. Please guys, think before you post. The 'prototype talk' forum section is intended for essentially any non Trainz discussions of railways, including model railways (otherwise we wouldn't have allowed the various model railway threads on the forums...).
