Stuttering in Trainz

Absolutely, with power to spare. I have checked mine with a watt meter and it only draws 30W max under full load. By the way, it comes in both full height and half height versions (for SFF desktops). Make sure you get the correct one for your system. Check newegg.com for prices. They will have at least a dozen brands to choose from and some offer rebates or free shipping.

I purchased the nVidia GT 430, 1GB card, installed it, and everything is working just fine at the moment. I did not have to upgrade my power supply. I noticed a big improvement with the stuttering, and I have most of the settings at their lowest levels. I'm going to try "tweaking" a few of them up a bit to see how my new card handles the performance. Thanks to everyone who has contributed comments to this thread.

Wouldn't a 2Gb card work better ? I bought the Galaxy GT 430 and it is for a 300Watt PS.

EDIT: I will have to check ... Come to think of it, mine may be a 1Gb card ... and I paid way too much for it at a Big Box store.

Hi All I have a new computer Hewlett Packerd 6GB..Nice built graphics card and my computer is 5.6 as compared to my old which was 4.2 and as of right now I don't have any problems..The old computer carried a GT420..

Hi Bob,

Are yousaying your new PC has "built in" graphics?

To all,
if you think your power supply may be marginal, do NOT overclock anything as that will use more power. Also limit your Trainz FPS, such as 30fps. This will use less peak power, keep your GPU cooler and decrease stutters. I do this by setting Trainz "vertical sync" to half rate and "frequency" to 60.
