Is there an option to save. if there is save to hard drive and uzip it with some like 7 ZIP (free program on the web) then you can save to cmp

Neil,

Somehow on your computer CDP files have become associated with Internet Explorer which isn't how things should be.

If you want CDP files to be associated with TRS2004

In Windows Explorer, view a CDP file that you wish to install.

Right-click the CDP file and select the Open With > Choose Program option.

Click the Browse button.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Content Dispatcher.exe, and click Open, which closes the browse dialogue box.

Back in the Open With dialogue box, double-click Content Dispatcher.

In Content Dispatcher, be sure to check the correct Trainz Version is specified in the Extract drop-down list (it seems to default back to TRS2006 every time if that version is also installed on the same computer).

Click the Extract button as normal to install the CDP file.

After installing new assets in TRS2004, delete the following file if it exists:
C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\Cache\world_cache_Dispatcher.chump

If you want CDP files to be associated with TRS2006

Run TRS2006, invoke its CMP, exit CMP, exit TRS2006.

If you want CDP files to be associated with TC

Run TC, invoke its CMP, exit CMP, exit TC.

If you want CDP files to be associated with TS2009WBE

Run TS2009WBE, invoke its CM2, exit CM2, exit TS2009WBE.

Once associated with the correct program, double-clicking a CDP file will install it into that program. (Well, it should do!)

Neil,

Which version of Trainz are you using?

Have you moved it manually after installation? That might possibly be the cause of the problem.

can someone please tell me why it says "no trainz products found" in my content dispatcher is this problem fixable ?

btw when i open content dispatcher it says something about user ID, do i enter my user ID or kuid number ?
Your user Id and kuid number are the same thing.
Perhaps you are confusing it with your user name.
Re "no trainz products if you double click and open your dispatcher at the top you will see options you can then change author details and you can see general options.
In general options you should be able to see trainz product TRS2004 in the box below should be the path.
If this does not work go to TRS2004 program folder open then locate and open the content manager folder locate the content manager exe double left click.
You will now have to wait till it finds the files, once done go the top left click onto file and select set trainz path you should now be able to see the top box (USE) there is a small dropdown arrow you can click onto to select the trainz product and then save.

Open trainz 2004 folder and look for edit kuid, click on it and put your kuid number in.
Next launch trainz and click the config. Put your username and password into the boxes and save

OK. Here's what I'd do with this.

1) Download the Zip file by FTP as you've been doing; when asked, choose "save it to disk"; make a note of the location to which you saved it.

2) Exit TRS, and navigate to the to the location you saved. Open the zip file, and extract the contents. For my part, if there is a "readme" file, I read it before doing anything else.

3) Start TRS, and make the necessary choices to import content from a CDP file, and navigate to the location to which you extracted the downloaded CDP file.

4) Use TRS to open the CDP file, and follow the procedures to commit the contents of the file to the game. I expect (though my expectations have been erroneous before) that the consist will have several different items within it, at least one for each item contained in the consist, and for some things, like a locomotive or passenger car, perhaps more than one.

Content dispatcher is for making your own CDP files it wont open files. If you have not created your own content then there is no trainz products. If you download a FTP file from the download station it will be as a CDP file, If download from another site it may be a zip file. Open the zip and it may have a CDP file. In both cases double click the CDP file icon, this will open an install window just follow the yes or install instructions.
If the zip file contains a folder then copy the folder to the 2004/world/dispatcher/downloads folder. You will then need to go back and open the cache folder and delete dispatcher chump file, this will be rebuilt when you start trainz.

@ stagecoach : i navigated to Auran/TRS2004/World but after that there is no sub-folder called "dispatcher"
and do i have to open the cdp file with another programme or just content dispatcher?

@ john now when i double click content dispatcher comes up

That might not be a problem. Trainz might only make that folder when the first CDP file's contents are installed.

Content dispatcher, which is invoked by double-clicking the CDP file.
@ john now when i double click content dispatcher comes up
Ah, 'tis good.

What happens then, does it install, or do you get an error message, or what?

Also, what operating system are you using, Windows XP or Vista?

i've got windows vista premium...when content dispatcher comes it gives author/content details and says extract at the bottom but its locked and it also says "no trainz products found

Try setting ContentDispatcher.exe to run in Administrator mode. Right-click it and I think there's an option to do it. Sorry, I haven't got Vista so I can't check.
