(what's with everyone using M$T$, am I missing a joke or something?).
$ is the Dollar sign & there has to be a dollar or two in anything Microsoft do, or they ain't interested.

I will probably get MSTS 2 since I'm tired of all the glitches and crashes that the Trainz series has offered through the years.
It will require a quad processor, quad video cards, 64 bit Vista and 16 gigs of memory.
Cheerio John
Are you sure about that John? Not even the guys who are working on the sim really know what the requirements will be at this time, So lets not get ahead of ourselves and speculate on what kind of PC will be needed to run the new sim.
Hello SandwichSpread
Thanks for the update on your future Rail Sim from MicroSoft. Is it OK for Auran to promote their existing Rail Sim on your MSTS2 forum too?
Cheers

http://www.railroadforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=180465&postcount=5 One other point which seems to confusing a few people. MSTS was developed by Kuju. MSTS2 is being developed in-house by Microsoft. Therefore it will be a totally different program. BTW, MSTS2 uses the Microsoft Flight Simulator X game engine.

But, if you notice actually, you'll see some of the original MSTS stuff was revamped and put into MSTS2, like saying one thing wasnt good enough for part 1, so they pumped it up on steriods, and slapped it into MSTS2.
And, thirdly, the only thing made for both these simulators is new GEs and EMDs.... arent we lacking something here..? OF COURSE WE ARE. None of them have ALCos, the locomotive company that defined steam locomotion, and later on diesel locomotion.
Not even an RS3!! that, is a total turn-off for me. No alcos? No purchase.
simple as it gets.
Cheers.

The good thing is that if models can be adapted to MSTS2 from MSTS, then we have an instant community for the new sim, with tons of new content.
Having known that there are different contributions for both games, being MSTS2 and KRS, it really shows. From KRS? Kinda debating on it still.
I may buy KRS later on once KRS gets it through their head that these simulators need to be user friendly, which KRS is seemingly having a problem trying to grasp. They think if you were to open up a locomotive file, to reskin it, its called copyright infringment. They soon dropped that once everybody just made their own skins.
